I have never been to Vladivostok, but I have been most villages/cities between lake Ladoga and lake Onega because I have family there.
It's very nice, but it gets cold in the winter. Summer is hot but the winter can get kinda brutal.
Other than that, I would probably settle there myself. It's very nice and rural.

There are 2 Novgorods in Russia. One of them is the old Veliky Novgorod (Great Novgorod, pic related), located in Northern Russia, somewhat close to the Baltic, and the second one is Nizhny Novgorod (Lower Novgorod), which is located deep in the Russian territory. Veliky Novgorod used to be a great city, one of the biggest of it's time, but got rekt a few times, especially by WW2 and Soviet and post-Soviet city planning and architecture, and then fell into obscurity. Nizhny Novgorod had a much better fate, it was untouched by the war, was a pretty rich city before the commies, and, as far as I know, is still a very nice place with neat architecture.
