he is a real jewel of a man
youtube.com
here's a song that I found
l just remembered the context of the poem, iirc he, being shitfaced, made it in the feast the day before the btfo of the Red Cliff.
l imagined Zao Zao would look more sly
フランシスコザビエルはほぼ全ての日本人が知っています。
ポルトガルでも有名ですか?
>Red Cliff
how can a guy who's spent his entire life kicking so much ass fuck it up so bad? we was so close to reunifing China but it was all taken away from him at the last moment...
felt very bad for him when I watched it on the show
*docks ships*
nothing personal, kid
you remember
he's a catholic saint but mostly just people who study history know about him
it is said he was the man that converted the most people to Christianity since the times of the Romans...
>PangTong.jpg
pic is Pang Tong walking into Yi province
w-wew the depiction goes a bit too far doesn't it
thank you for the explanation
do you like this one friend?
望廬山瀑布
日照香爐生紫煙,

in the 2010 tv series that is pretty much what happens

I read that he was actually just shot by a stray arrow, but I guess the show wanted to make it as heroic and tragic as possible
the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is full of dramatizations, but l like it nonetheless. l was a bit sad to find out 関羽 didx't even have 青龍偃月刀(dat halberd) and there was no 赤兎馬(dat red horse).
do you love the Sixteen Kingdoms Period 五胡十六国時代?
>Sixteen Kingdoms
first time I'm hearing about this, it really feels like the majority of chinese history is them getting invaded by barbarians
>the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is full of dramatizations, but l like it nonetheless. l was a bit sad to find out 関羽 didx't even have 青龍偃月刀(dat halberd) and there was no 赤兎馬(dat red horse).
the novel was written centuries after the fact, I guess the author wanted to make him look good so he made it up
>do you love the Sixteen Kingdoms Period 五胡十六国時代?
don't know much about Chinese history besides 3kingdoms, 20th century and a bit about the unification(Qin Shi Huang Di) sorry
I thought Chinese history was:
powerful emperor -> emperors stop caring about power or child emperor gets the throne and the regent has the real power -> powerful lords and court officials start fighting for power under the emperor's nose -> oops China is on fire again -> a powerful warlord takes out enemies and becomes so powerful he takes the emperorship -> powerful emperor
this on loop
Sixteen Kingdoms are the most chaotic period in China. so, there's this hero called 苻堅 Fu Jian, who established 前秦 Former Qing. Fu Jian was an idealist and he used people of countries he had annihilated, just like Dalius i.
en.m.wikipedia.org
he was even greater than Zao Zao imo, helped by one of the greatest advisers in the Chinese history 王猛 Wang Meng. he reunified 華北 North China like Zao, and went down south to conquer South China, ruled by Eastern Jin at that time. he was on the verge of the reunification of the Chinese continent. he led 1 million of soldiers, surmounting the belligerent of his enemy by ten times. it's like 3-0 at the 40min of the second half at the finals of the Champion's League. they crashed at the Fei River. here's what happened. pic related.
en.wikipedia.org
eh
here are all the conquest dynasties of china
the former qin founded by di
northern wei and zou founded by the xianbei (modern mongols)
liao founded by the khitans (again northeast asian tribes)
arguably the tang as the founding family was based in westernmost china but they were "han"
later tang founded by shatuo turks (we wuz emperors and shiet)
later jin again by shatuo turks
later han again by shatuo turks
northern han by the same shatuo turk family as the later han
jin founded by the jurchens
western xia by tanguts
and the most famous ones that held all of china, qing and yuan founded by the manchu and the mongolians respectively
northern chinks must be super mutts
he sounds incredibly badass
I feel like there just as many native dynasties in their dynasty
but foreign rulers/dynasties are in general a terrible idea, one look at what happened to the visigoths in Portugal is enough to reach that conclusion
>in their dynasty
*in their history
he's pretty much equivalent to Zao except after the battle he couldn't rebuild Former Qing, his multiethnic idealism fell and North China got balkanized again, and he was strangled in the end, unlike Zao, who managed to not fall his power. every time l think about Fu Jian l get depressed. literally from the heyday to the bottom of the barrel.
history isn't always fair
like Caesar, who saved the Roman state on several occasions, massively expanded its territory, was loved by the common people and even forgave his enemies from the civil war
what he got as a reward was 23 stab wounds from his "friends"
youtube.com
>history isn't always fair
how BRUTal...
people like to shit on the Byzantines as just a shadow of the former Roman Empire but forget they lasted until the 15th century, 1000+ years after the city of Rome was lost
they have my respect
youtube.com
still the earlier roman armies were better because they could take defeats like champs
Julius Caesar is my favourite person in history and I also love Taka-chan!
Thank you for spreading sponge cake friend. I like jiggly ones a lot
I like cakes
Hehe 李白 is one of the best Tang poet
I really want to learn more about this period
Is it in 左傳?
I cant really buy it though, so sad
in Japan they still make variations of Portuguese cake that was introduced in the 16th century
but he didn't spare him...
>Is it in 左傳?
you mean the record is cited from 左傳? it was allegedly compiled by 孔子, but 五胡十六国 starts in a.c 316
My country too however many still argue that whether it is the Dutch or Portugese that spread it
My ma absolutely love it.
that battle was legendary
youtube.com
he actually kept him in prison for 6 years because it was very prestigious to execute a foreign king during ones triumph, so they strangled him during the Triumph of Gaul
>he actually kept him in prison for 6 years because it was very prestigious to execute a foreign king during ones triumph, so they strangled him during the Triumph of Gaul
ah so he was garrotted with the greatest prestige conceivable, you mean? totally different from Atahualpa
DUCE DUCE DUCE
Ronald said, ''Why are you laughing?'' became a meme known at all over Japan.
Japanese say that he is genius because he could leave such a meme during only three or four hours stay in Japan.
this is my favourite pic of duce
DUCE!
post more Duce
it was very different
Vercingetorix was ritually executed, it was just a part of a Roman celebration. he was no longer a threat and by that point Gaul was already annexed into the Roman Republic with Gaulish nobility even joining the Senate. They did it because they could
Atahualpa was just robbed and murdered. Pizarro didn't want him to come back to take revenge on the Conquistadores for kidnapping and robbing Atahualpa so he killed him in cold blood. They did it because it was practical for them
based af
>Gaulish nobility even joining the Senate.
c'est vrai?
wtf is this song lmao
何故笑うんだい?
oui
it's not like they were barbarians at this point. the Gaulish aristocracy had sent many of their children to Rome to get a Roman style education and to learn Roman customs so by then they were almost indistinguishable from the other Romans
Anchovy's song!
youtube.com
this is Katyusha's...
the kid spoke very good Portuguese
Ronaldo was right in defending him!
>the Gaulish aristocracy had sent many of their children to Rome to get a Roman style education and to learn Roman customs so by then they were almost indistinguishable from the other Romans
HEEEEEEH this is the post of the day. the thing is that they didn't seem to reinforce and keep Gaul independent with knowledge they took from Roma
base
Gaul was never a unified empire and there also wasn't really a "Gaulish" identity, even Vercingetorix's coalition was just a part of the Gaulish tribes
and Rome wasn't openly hostile towards all Gauls. Many tribes were their allies and over the centuries they became so culturally influenced by the Romans they started to see themselves as also Romans.
also anyone could become a Roman citizen through military service and it's much easier to just learn Latin and join a Legion than it is to win a war against the most powerful country in the world
why do you know the video?lol
ahh, what we technically call "Gaul" today actually is of bunch of different tribes and they didn't have some kind of strong shared identity of the entity.
Why did the Japanese kill our priests :(
が好きですか*
same thing happened in Lusitania with Viriato
en.wikipedia.org
Iberia was never really a unified entity, just a bunch of tribes living in the same place. he built an alliance to stop Roman expansion and fought a guerilla war, he was never beaten in battle but was murdered by traitors the Roman Consul promised them gold
they then went to Quintus Servilius Caepio the Roman general leading the Legions asking for their money and he had them executed instead because he hated traitors
perche parli bene il giapponese?
videos of Ronaldo in Japan got pretty popular lol
they didn't want to be annexed like the philippines were by the kangdom of spain
also jap authorities hated the clergy being meddlesome or too powerful, oda nobunaga literally burned down monasteries with people inside them
>they then went to Quintus Servilius Caepio the Roman general leading the Legions asking for their money and he had them executed instead because he hated traitors
w-wew what a double-dealing
they had it coming tho
Nobbu~
he was a bottom craving for Yasuke BBC tho
he wasn't the one who bribed them and was pretty pissed his rival just got murdered in his sleep
>he was a bottom craving for Yasuke BBC
hahaha
maybe that explains why a Mozambican became a Samurai lol
crazy lol
japanese football fans sympathize with Ronaldo lol
>was pretty pissed his rival just got murdered in his sleep
pic related
Nobbu also had his trap cocubine
pt.m.wikipedia.org
what a libertine
ロナウドも少し笑ってたんだよなぁww
I really like the Samurai Blue, I was rooting for them after Portugal lost in the World Cup
youtube.com
also a shame Nakajima is pretty cool
*also a shame Nakajima will be leaving he is pretty cool
>Nobunaga was a otokonoko lover
lol, I guess when you're that powerful you can do whatever you want...
he loved homosex while accepting Christianity
what a contradiction
>accepting Christianity
I thought he was just tolerating the priests because he liked guns but was never a Christian himself...
yep he did it also because Buddhism was such an eyesore for his reunification
this and the fact that kirishtans had no connections to the country in the first place made them less prone to corruption and getting into power struggles
also he loved western attire and weaponry, he collected western goods. a true westaboo
do people in Japan know about Shogun Total War?
Oda Clan was the most overpowered in that game lol
ah wait "accepting Christianity" is kinda misunderstandable, he allowed missionaries to spread it under where he ruled
>Shogun Total War
what's that?
western strategy game set in the Sengoku Jidai
youtube.com
I'd also be pretty interested if strangers from across the world showed up unexpectedly
Why do threads die as I come :(
3 am in Japan!
Japanese anons probably gone to sleep...
giving the title of "Shogun" to the game featuring the Sengoku Period is kinda like calling those who were engaged in Reconquista "Conquistadores"
what's your fav clan? for me it's Mouri.
l'm actually descended from one of the branch of this grand clan
It was my favorite game
I like the Date
Masamune was a real badass
>for me it's Mouri.
>l'm actually descended from one of the branch of this grand clan
very cool!
Mine is Shimazu, because I'm an EU4 fag, and they got stupid good military ideas and rising from nothing and conquering all of East Asia by 1700 is fun.
of course the 織田
I also like the 大友 and the 徳川
date was just too late to be be born to participate in the fighting
and jk, l'm actually of npc tenant farmers
Shimazu is a badass, they were literally Saiyajin.
en.m.wikipedia.org
but honestly they are much important in Bakumatsu
>大友
...how come? guns?
