They can, images are just the representation of the divine, not the actual divine themselves, therefore if putting a kimono in Virgin Mary can make it easier for achieving the divine for the japanese, the church might as well do it. Hence it explains things like the "tomb of christ" in japan and other stuff like the Saints. They are all representations of divine which Christ made it possible, do to him becoming both man and God in the flesh, thus exempting reason from original Sin, different from protestants think :)

I really want to read about Buddism and Shintoism, as I don't know nothing about it. Most that I know about shinto/buddism, is mostly from anime and video games, especially Shin Megami Tensei. Do you know any book to get me started on it? I know some japanese, but it still is really bad

Also this isn't really a concept in Catholicism, as all morality derives from Christ (the son of God) which share the same substance as God and the Holy Spirit, but all three are separate entities, also God/Christ/Holy Spirit is considered Truth above everything, defying that truth and the laws imposed by God to achieve some goal, is considered a Sin without any exceptions, and depending on it can get you directly to Hell if you don't regret from deep within your heart and confess to a priest.

In Brazil most of catholicism has been subverted by the KGB and Marxism in the 1960s, but nowadays Brazilians are regaining their faith and looking for Latin Masses and reading about it directly into the Vatican and old books. Most True Catholic Brazilians regard Pope Francis as heretic and Pope Benedict XVI as the last legitimate pope. But brazilians like that are minority, the majority still holds catholic principles, but can't understand them nor understand where they come from, hence they sin without guilt and it is also why it is so easy to subvert it towards whatever you want. If you want to read about it catholic doctrine, there is an official Vatican book, called the "Catechism of the Catholic Church", it's available in Japanese
