Hello Jow Forums. I am copying this from /his/ , because someone told me that, i may get more answers here.
I still don't know where else i can discuss this topic and i still don't really know how to start this discussion properly.
The World is changing and "certainty" is nowadays, in a fast changing world a complex topic. I now speak for myself, but almost nothing in this world is certain. However there is one thing absolutely certain: we humans always seek knowledge, one way or another.
There are different ways to earn wisdom, but mostly we learn through experience and education.
In this thread, i would like to discuss the educational-system of Finland. I am very interested in knowing, why Finland counts to the educational elite in this world, how & who established it, how the school systems distinguish from the rest of the planet, why other nations are not trying to achieve the same educational success, how a typical day of a finnish student/pupil looks like and what knowledge (language, science, ect) they earned.
I know it's a lot, but i would really appreciate it, if some Finlandian Native Anons, would overlook my grammar and naive way of asking those things and share some first hand information.
I am asking with all respect and i would appreciate frkm the depth of my heart, if you could share some knowledge with me :)
Well, have to say it again. Isn't there anyone who can contribute something? Education is one of the most important ways of mutating to a higher entity. Why is no one interested in the optimization of one of the most important instruments humanity has?
Every single flaw of this world can be reduced to the lack of knowledge and the laziness to get smarter. It's time to change this. We are on the top of the foodchain and instead of becoming the gods that sleep in us, we are stupid pieces of shit and stagnate in ignorance.
Wake the fuck up and start building the foundation of species that rules the universe and bend every law of nature.
It's 4am I and Europe sleep now. Try again tomorrow.

Other countries rekt again

There isn't much to say, especially due to the flawed nature of the premise. The statistics show that certain education system, like Finland and Korea, are very good at imparting test solving skills. This isn't really worth much of anything.
The problem is that first we'd need a metric to establish what a education system is supposed to 'do', before we can decide if that of Finland is actually the best and what parts of it lead to that success (not saying its not good).
it is often argued that the great amount of attention put to making school life less stressful to children is a big part of the success here. Things like the fact that finnish school usually starts about an hour later than "normal" in other countries (at 9 AM), basic things like free school meals and joining school when older (we experimented with 5-6 as entry age in Germany, and like most such experiments it was a disaster that fucked up basically several years of students).

The answer is: autism

How dare you

>starts about an hour later than "normal" in other countries (at 9 AM) don't know who told you that
also the "random" test takers for pisa exams back then were handpicked and as such the results were in no way representative of reality which is why the PISA rankings have plummeted. usual state dishonesty.

Do you realise what you are? You can count yourself to a species, that somehow developed consciousness and lives on the top of the foodchain. And even on the foodchain, your country has the political mind-set for the optimisation of humanities most important instrument: getting wisdom and knowledge, to mutate into a higher being.
How about starting acting like one?
Maybe you are superior with your education politics, but making fun of other people, that aren't lucky enough to be born in a certain area, will never help you to become more than a ignorant filth, that threw all his potential away to become a higher being.
Can you contribute something on my questions? >Why does Finland count to the educational elite in this world? > How & who established it? > How does the school system distinguish from the rest of the planet? > Why aren't other nations trying to achieve the same educational success? > How does a typical day of a finnish student/pupil look like? > What knowledge (language, science, ect) have they earned at the end of their school career? > Why is their way of learning and understanding more efficient? > How high is their knowledge level, compared to a average student from Germany or USA at the same age in the same subjects? (Other datas than Pisa studies)
I would really appreciate if you have some insight. Else, not a big deal, i am glad that there is someone half-heartedly interested in this thread:P
What i was told is, that Finland still has eastern a germany/UDSSR education policy, which valued education much more than the west. Other than this, there a re smaller groups of students, in which teacher can focus on the less gifted students. There is much more and i would like to know, how it really is from a native
Leo Wilson
>don't know who told you that A finn, actually. But I know some also start at 8, I don't actually know which is more common.
Jaxson Baker
>that Finland still has eastern a germany/UDSSR education policy
Not sure thats true really. Talking to my parents and my aunt (who was a teacher both in the GDR and later FRG), the main difference seems to be higher standards and a tougher curriculum. Students were challenged back then.

but Fingols and Koreans commit more suicides than us there must be something wrong about their educational system
William Gutierrez
May you provide us a source, that approves your statement? Would be very interesting to see, if there is a correlation
Gabriel Johnson
>Korea PISA RANK 1 I don't know if any of this is even reliable given that error
I'm no expert by any means, but like someone said it's probably because school is relatively easy here and the system prioritizes children's safety and happiness over success.
We probably use more resources on special education and anti-bullying programs and stuff like that than any country. School doesn't feel like an institution or prison, and kids generally like going, at least in my experience. Teachers and the state really care about students on a personal level, and for example getting the teachers to know the kids' parents is encouraged. School is easy, starts later than in most countries, doesn't much put stress on exam success and things like that. There's no school uniforms, no shoes indoors, plenty of time to play, no security guards or fences. At least from where I'm from there weren't.
Stability, equality, fairness. I can't imagine what else the secret could be.
Do i seriously have to remind you, that you should stop this edgy act? Are you really not better than this? I am asking you knly for your sake. What's actually satisfying you, writing this in a thread, that could actually be more than weaponized autism?
finnish education system is a joke. it's easy as hell and retards get let through with flying colours by fudging numbers out of pity & protecting the school's image.
Nolan Wright
So basically schools aren't only learning/teaching places, but more of a living environment that emphasizes personality development. I can imagine that students are encouraged to build strong bonds, common identity and help each other out with tutoring sessions, which is on the educational perspective a win/win situation for the tutor (who is solidifying his knowledge) and the one who gets tutored (by someone who may give a more understandable point of view in a common student language).
And if i get this straight, being a teacher isn't only a job. It's a profession that doesn't stop by teaching a subject. Teachers are attachment figures, who build a very personal relationship to their students.
That sounds like a emotionally exhausting profession. How do the schools& teacher handle students, that dumb fucking pieces of shit, that only live to be edgy?

How many languages do you speak?
Jace Murphy
just 2
Kevin Turner
Are you studying at the moment? Did your school/class had any specialization (like languages, science, ect). What would you personally change? Did you break up?
Hunter Hughes
>Are you studying at the moment? no I'm like 30 >Did your school/class had any specialization (like languages, science, ect) Honestly can't recall >What would you personally change? I'm no educator and won't pretend I have some great solution. I just know the deep set corruption and test result manipulation has to end. It's doing nobody any favours >Did you break up? bit personal
Aaron Myers
>he thinks PISA tests are reliable ohnononononnonononono

I have an answer to most of your questions, but the field was too long. Going to post a screenshot of text soon though.
Jack Roberts
if finns are so clever then why are they so irrelevant?
Jeremiah Watson
Based. Thank you for an actual attempt at good discussion, OP.
Brandon Hughes
the system isn't that good, we just had genetically superior material and proper discipline for a while, now when there is neither the PISA results are dropping hard

>Finns/Koreans It's almost if there are correlation between the two ethnic group
Hudson Gomez
Explain, what you actually mean by using the term "irrelevant". After that, explain what "clever" means in your opinion. I want to understand, in which context you are exactly making this statement.
Henry Turner
Thank you for your honest point of view. That kind of insight is exactly what i was looking for. It's good to see opinions that differ and also point at the flaws of the system.
Please correct me if i am wrong. You seem like a person, who couldn't thrive back in the school days. I know that it's quite personal and if you don't want to share your story, i will respect that. Still though, it would be interesting to know. :)
