That 24 year old boomer who contributes to a roth IRA
>that 22 year old boomer who pays 10% of his pay cheque into a pension plan he may or may not have access to when he’s 65
If you understood why a Roth IRA is actually worth having, you’d contribute, too. Hint: it’s not just about saving money for when you’re old.
>implying the US will honor a tax law made in the late 90's when I retire in mid 21'st century
And again, that’s not the reason...
When you put money into a Roth IRA, you’re putting it into an investment account with low fees, zero capital gains, and the ability to withdraw it for medical, college, and home buying expenses at any time without a penalty.
Also, do you really think the US government would ever fuck over their Wall Street (((banker))) overlords by destroying one of the best incentives for people to give them their money? If anything, the government is more likely to cut social secui
Sounds like you are speculating that the government become more money hungry and say "lol jk we are taxing your roth". That is a total brainlet move.
if you can't max IRA and 401K and also save an additional $1K or more a month, you are a brainlet failure anyway
I was saying the opposite, brainlet.
>getting railroaded into buying wall street bags at ath
Shit 10%? My pension plan is only 4.5% contribution but will go to 6% next year since I know earn over $100k.
>TFW you earn too much to contribute to an IRA
Feels bad man.
this, roth ira is for proles
I need to back door roth tho
I have a roth 401k so that's based.
I worked a job for two years with the solo intent to backdoor everything into the roth. I made decent money and put 30% into their 401k. I was living cheap and could do that. When I left the company I pulled nearly 50k from my 401k to Roth.
So you must have done after tax contributions to the 401k too? Does that change anything? I'm really hoping I'll be able to do it without changing jobs, but idk haven't looked into it yet.
Heh 24 and contribute nothing I make better investments in crypto
Same, I work for the government so I have a roth 401k + roth 457. I can put up to $37k combined into the two funds. The kicker is that there's no matching contributions :/ cheap fucks
The IRA? Don't they make bombs!?!
Jesus fuck. In Australia super contributing from employers is between 9 - 19% of pay. That being said, our government doesnt actually have the money (gave it too coons and foreigners). So they keep putting age of retirement up. Men have the privilege of working until they are 67.5 and women 65 years old. J U S T
I work for a local government (NYC). Our pension contributions goes up as our salary goes up to 6% of wages. Pic related
>pension
Oops, looks like you'll be paying for the Boomer's retirement until he dies at 110 and you'll get nothing from it once the brown hoards take over.
Me pay? You'll pay, taxes will go up and services will get cut to fund pension (though nyc is actually funded unlike jew jersey's). I don't even care as I said I max out my roth 401k + 457 every year.
you wasted trips on this, i hope you kys
Don't think Roth is as secure against creditors as a 401k.
>Implying
I'm leaving this place ASAP, I need to save for the down payment while living with the parents. This state is a sinking ship. Either way taxes are going to go to the hoards of endless browns swiping their EBTs. Things might be comfy now but they won't be in the upcoming decades.
>endless browns swiping their EBTs.
Ugh.
