Funny thread so far but here is the non-meme answer: As an export-oriented economy, Germany is very dependent on international free trade. That's why it's our most prioritized foreign policy objective to keep trade as frictionless and free as possible. Since the current rule-based international order is challenged by the world's only super power in form of trade wars, protectionist policies and straight-up sabotage of multilateral organizations and their frameworks the German economy is taking a blow caused by this uncertainty.
