I used to play Dota a lot. In those days, you could buy a lot of heroes that were really really powerful. I have a lot of respect for the Dota community, but there are still some issues. The biggest issues aren't only in Dota itself, but also within the scene. A lot of people are just playing as heroes, without understanding how important it is to have heroes. Players are playing the same characters over and over again. And even if it gives you more gold, it also gives you more experience and experience at the same time, which you aren't necessarily seeing in real time. There are also people who say "I'm a mid laner, it might help me win a game. Let me support him with a team". There's no such thing. So people who are good in Dota are playing the same heroes over and over again, and there isn't a strong incentive to learn.
