Ok Jow Forums so I bought around 2500 BTC back in 2012, but... In 2013-2014 I lost over 1700 BTC in scams, by being MtGox'ed and just generally being stupid with them. Anyone remembers BitInstant and Cryptsy? lmao
I almost gave up on crypto after the 2-year long bear market but seeing the VCs investing and the new coins (Ethereum) prevented me from selling - thank god.
In 2017 I sold all my remaining bitcoins (805) at an average price of $13K, all tax-free thanks to the laws in my country.
After cashing out around $10.1M I decided to invest that in January in the S&P 500, so I can live off the dividends. Yes I know stocks will crash but I don't really care, within 2 years it'll go back up anyway like it always did for 100+ years.
I get around $180K in dividends yearly, after taxes it's $150K. It's amazing that I don't have to work, but with $150K you can't live like some high-end celebrity. I don't feel rich. I can't just take a private jet like that or "buy a lambo" without eating into my capital. I spend most of the money on rent for a very nice house, and the rest on foods/entertainment/clothing. I don't have a car and always take taxis (uber is banned here) and it's cheaper since I only go out maybe once a week.
I might buy 100-200 BTC just for the lulz again, just in case it really gets to $100K, but I don't think an extra $8M will suddenly make me feel "rich".
What am I doing wrong Jow Forums ? How can I "make it" ?
Sage Stop bumping the thread you fucking idiots. Stop encourgaing these role playing people holy fuck.
Carter Jenkins
Why are you renting?
Christopher Wilson
buy trx or kys
Cooper Richardson
If you’re only returning 150k a year off 10 million you are a complete and utter retard
Elijah Roberts
making 1% after taxes. that nigger is basically in deficit after inflation. lmao
Jack Robinson
wouldn't bank savings account give you better returns? is this a troll post
Jacob Torres
The cruel joke is that if u were degenerate enough to buy bitcoin for drugs and cp in 2011-2012 u already lost at life
Jaxson Wright
I don't like staying at the same place. I like to travel / move ideally every 6 months. So that's why I'm renting.
When I'm settling down then I might buy a house.
Also, this is not a larp. I'm looking for genuine advice.
Cooper Foster
I'm not making 1% a year dude.
That's the dividends. Stocks themselves appreciate around 7% a year so the dividends also grow 7% a year.
Dylan Reyes
Diversify user, buy that house. get some gold/silver. Buy back some bitcoin here at 6900 for just over half what you sold it for. Get a nice big pile of cash. If you cant be happy by spending 150k a year then you will not be happy by being able to spend 500k either though.
Aaron Perry
No they wouldn't. Interest rates are ZERO where I live.
Connor Smith
I own some gold & silver and like I said I'll maybe buy some bitcoins. I got a big pile of cash, doesn't make me happy.
Also houses or stocks doesn't make a big difference, if you count the dividends and appreciation it's the same thing over a longer period of time. Might be slightly higher % but property managers cost would remove any slight % advantage.
It's just that I thought I'd be able to live luxuriously but the truth is much different. I'm mid-upper class, nothing more than that.
I'd be an idiot to start spending my capital if I want it to last and beat inflation.
Anthony Mitchell
you've already made it. that feeling you're allowing to gnaw at you will never go away. stop looking for happiness from money and start helping others
Juan Bennett
Boo hoo hoo. I don’t live like Justin Bieber and I’m sad. Don’t be shitty...start a business, or meet a nice lady. Find a god damn purpose. Paint or draw or buy a camera and try photography, or see or fucking whatever...just add to this shit pile of a world we live in. CLEAN YOUR ROOM.
you really won't get good advice here, or anywhere. here everyone is poor so they have no concept of $100-200k a year being "not that much" money, even though that's the truth. if you asked r/personalfinance for example, they would ban you for not guzzling down as much real estate as you could afford during the market top, and ban you again since you didn't post your full budget and proof of an emergency fund. the probably you have is social it seems, money doesn't fix that.
Zachary Scott
came here to say this
op is a fag
Landon Anderson
where do you live
Jace Peterson
literally anywhere. basically the highest rate you can get is 1.75 even in america
James Wright
kill yourself nigger
Cameron Long
>I never have to work but I can't buy a lambo, boohoo me the thread
Nicholas Perry
No one will ever give you permission to be a gangster.
Christopher Russell
Thanks for understanding. Yeah I figured, I was looking to find some people who went through the same or that can relate to it, but it seems hard to find.
Even if started a business, it would have to make at least $180K/year+ after taxes to justify working on it at all. Otherwise there's no point working your ass off to make less than what you already make.
Maybe you're right about the social thing. What would you say are the best places to go to?
Joseph Lewis
wish I could tell you m8, I have the same problem myself. what I can tell you is if you have good friendships now, cherish them and don't let them deteriorate. also building better relationships with your family helps.
those digits make it look like you're gonna make it though.
why don't you learn to swingtrade positions that you keep for weeks to months at a time? Aslong as the general trend of the market is known on a larger timescale you should be fine trading the DOW or S&P or the many other world indexes?
John Walker
>has 10 million in stocks >makes 150k in dividends per year >doesn't have to work >chooses to live in a house that maximizes his income >bitches about not making it
Get the fuck out of that house
Downgrade to something that is still nice but that affords you more monthly cash
Fuck. Here I am with $75 in my bank account, 20k in student debt (still not graduating until next year) with 3k invested in crypto and this mother fucker is bitching about having 10 million dollars. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Jackson Howard
actually what really might help is getting a part time job at someplace that's really social and fun, like a bar or a doggy day care or something. it's not like you need money but it will keep you busy and you'll meet a lot of fun people.
Ryder Bell
other than bitching about private jets and lambo's, OP is right. 10Million isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things if you have to live on it your whole life. I don't know if OP has kids or not but a good schooling would cost you atleast a million and change.
Gavin Wilson
Maybe you should see someone specialized in this stuff. Like some lottery companies have specalized personel to help lottery winners deal with their new found riches? Go to a psychologist or something that specifically deals with money and so forth.
Juan Taylor
No you didn't. You were replying with smug anime girls to the idea of buying BTC at $250 a coin, just like the rest of mongs in here did.
Let this be a lesson that happiness isn't tied to your bank account.
Christian Sanders
This. You are disorientated. You need to orient yourself toward a goal and a noble aim.
Nathaniel Ross
You got enough to fly premium economy, Id start putting everything on reward credit cards. I dont use em but people who are big on consuming probably should. You might get some first/business class upgrades that way.
Then just take Uber Blacks or whatever its called, rent a lambo through Hertz Rich people super car rental service.
I would have never put 10m all in, should have done like 80% in and 20% in cash to get yourself a house/condo, buy a used lambo for 100k altho in your case youd be better off living in some city that caters to rich people and using an exotic rental car membership so you can drive different super cars.
I usually hate LARPs but it can help everyone else hashout their own lives or rethink what theyd do. I wouldnt go for a flashy life personally but maybe you gotta burn it out of your system over a couple years.
Samuel Hughes
Buy bitcoin cash
Connor Gomez
Europe?
Lucas Campbell
>10m >150k(about 1%) a year So you're basically losing 2% a year to inflation?
If not LARP then you already made it you faggot. You just feel useless because you clicked a few buttons and held throughout the biggest bullrun in history.
Find some meaning in your life.
Gabriel Flores
what country was this that had 0% taxes? btw the safe withdrawal rate of index funds is about 4% so you should be getting $400k annually that you can use without touching capital.
Leo Gutierrez
larp
Brayden Reed
Fuck off you ungrateful faggot. You live a better lifestyle than 99.99% of people in this world. Meanwhile I made only 600k, guess how that feels? I can't retire without working at least 20 years and I will NEVER be able to buy any supercar. I need to live cheaply and save most of my income only to fucking retire on a shitty 6k/month passive income at 40.
>you really won't get good advice here, or anywhere. here everyone is poor so they have no concept of $100-200k a year being "not that much" money It is you who have no concept of reality. In my northern european country all my friends have masters degrees and none of them make even close to that. Almost nobody makes even close to 100k/year except a small group of jobs in the US
Samuel Barnes
The swr is not 4 but more like 3-3.5 the only countries that are actually tax free in eueope are germany and portugal Pretty sure he is just larping
Lucas Torres
this is such a bad larp >no taxes >180k, 150k after taxes >10.1 mil >how can i make it? sage
Dude, stick 100k on a potential moon shot like HOT or something. Then, fucking have a big think about something you have always wanted to do. Ideally something creative or business related and use some of those divi's to start doing it. Forget all the neet wonder life bullshit you read on here. We as humans are meant to do shit and solve problems and the vast majority of us aren't truly happy unless we are.
Hudson Scott
Very good ideas. Thank you
Dividends are taxed like normal income, unlike bitcoin
I know plenty of people making 100k/year+
Robert Bailey
master a trade and become the eccentric rich artist.
Wyatt Perry
Yeah that is bullshit, unless you live in luxembourg or singapore
Christopher Long
Average IQ here is sub-zero. Sage
Jaxon Smith
Meditation. Find a meaningful activity. Pursue relationships. Learn about people. 150K is enough to not worry about that aspect of life, get to work on the others.
Leo Kelly
Long story short you've already got money, it hasn't fulfilled you, you need something else too.
Jaxson Brooks
it's all perspective. when you do become successful your views start to change, you realize you can't retire early on something like $125k a year, and the majority of people are really fucked because the median family income in the US is $50-60k and everyone buys houses, throws expensive weddings, and has kids. I make over $100k at my day job at 30 with no masters degree and I'm one of the most junior people in the department. unless I really make some moves though, I'm not going to be able to retire early.
Noah Robinson
>I make over $100k at my day job at 30 with no masters degree and I'm one of the most junior people in the department. unless I really make some moves though, I'm not going to be able to retire early. Ok I see your point. I mean I have 600k at 24 but still won't be able to retire before 42 earliest because salaries in europoor socialist shitholes are so low
Jeremiah Lopez

Alexander Johnson
you need something todo other than to hedonistically fap to traps on the internet. you need delayed gratification in your life, and to pursue a additive, creative pursuit, not to remain idle a deleterious, consumer
You can also move to a shittier but good country. It seems like you are from Germany/netherlands or something. Rent a nice place on malta, rent a nice place in portugal maybe a nice apartment somewhere in America (most europeans secretly dream of going to america). Dont live too long at said places just move a little try different things find what you like, where you feel comfortable. It took me a few years. I was at 5MM. One day I was in Rome and I felt like I belonged there, rented a nice apartment before moving and settling here. I found my peace. Money gave me a sense of needing to do something/make something instead of wanking off and just smoking weed and drinking, which created a form of depression I couldnt have anticipated, you even feel guilty for not being satisfied with this wealth. But now I feel great. Rome was the place for me for some reason.
Nicholas Cooper
there is a sizeable population of Jow Forums oldfags who made it and learned the truth behind "money doesn't buy happiness." most of these rich+sad user threads are not larps, you'd know that if you've experienced it, but the rich anons bragging about throwing down their profits on hookers and blow are usually larps. those people never come back to Jow Forums.
Elijah Long
LMAO op is the very curse of INTP/ISTP.
I'm another 2012'er and I want to make 50-100 mill and make a mark on the world. the comfy middle class life you describe is actually my worst nightmare. it's a dead zone and no mans land.
Aaron Rodriguez
Your opsec is retarded and you rightfully lost your money. Bitcoin isnt based in trust trust nobody.
Daniel Hall
I mean the OP seems both intp and european , euros don't have that cut throat make it at all costs that we americans do. I would say he should enjoy how lucky he is and find meaning in family/wife, theres a ton of people who make it and just chill out and don't want more.
Asher King
danish fag detected. find someone who actually knows how to handle money.
Jose Collins
I agree. usually those well adjusted people are not forchaners though so here we are.
