What's embarrassing is that on the same article they show a graph saying Asians do way better than whites. And yes they are obviously some rich Chinese kids but that's a minority. Most Asians either had a modest background or were middle class, which clearly proves in the same article that the economical factor isn't as important as the people who voted this think it is.

Also does it mean that not only minorities will get their SAT boosted but they will also get the advantages from universities that tend to prefer diversity in profiles anyway ? How far will it go ?

They aren't allowed to consider race in the adversity score. Some of the examples they give are graduating class size, scores of classmates, home situation, parent's military service, etc.
It's a fucking terrible idea, but I don't think it's any worse than affirmative action policies already in place at American universities.

I mean that the fact that Asian managed to succeed may it be this generation or the generation before proves that the economical background isn't really the problem.

Asians on average are significantly wealthier than Whites at least here in California. The only poor Asians I've met have been fob Vietnamese and North Korean refugees and they unfortunately do much worse than Asians of middle class backgrounds. Income still does matter significantly even among Asians.

I know Mexicans, Argies and PeruANOs with pretty advanced STEM backgrounds. It's a minority of them but still a significant amount of Spics are smart enough to get into high IQ fields. A notable chunk of the aerospace engineers in California are Mexicans. Peruvians and Argies for some reason are generally better off than the average here. That's including the obviously White ones and the hyper square headed indio Peruvians.

Asian communities in the US have the most tutoring centers in terms of population density. So essentially every child has +3 hours of schooling per day as a result. This is contrary to other demographics in the US which emphasize either sports (White, Black) or general labor (Hispanic, White, Black) at an early age, leaving almost no free time for academia. Such qualitative measures change respective to income, especially when mentioning the White demographic.

Culturally, Asian children are only limited to doing well in academia. Cleaning, cooking, interpersonal relations with other family members, and maintaining home upkeep (repairing something in the household) are all left to other individuals as a result. In other households, such as the Hispanic household, all of the activities listed above are commonly performed by all members of the family, and at times members within their own community.

For the Asian American, volunteering and extracurricular activities (and rarely sports) are deemed necessary for the purpose of making the student more competitive in the college application process. This is true given the high participation rate in the former activities before graduation and with a low participation rate upon graduation. White Americans generally do the same thing, but activities outside of the strong sciences and musical arts are allowed to flourish within this demographic. All other demographics will pursue extracurricular activities, but will do so willingly, that is, without the need of some future reward.

Any pursuit of knowledge outside of the education system is deemed "a waste of time" to the Asian American, which in itself is an American virtue. Much like all Americans, the Asian American is proud of his ignorance and only admires personal wealth. The difference is the Asian American, unlike other demographics, will see any pursuit outside the realm of obtaining high figures of wealth as an inevitable failure.
