Alright, so here is the options profit/loss for those you who went on the straddle life on SNAP with me, based on my entry (12.5 8/17): opcalc.com/goEQ
The bounds are a move of 50%, which would be a repeat of earnings beat 2/6/2018. The most likely move is 30%, 16.70 & 8.99. An upwards move of only 14% will result in a breakeven; likewise, a downwards move of 24% will result in breakeven. These breakeven values are for ON EXPIRATION. Move should be complete by the 15th at latest, based on previous movement on earnings. Based on current market price (Close today should be used for calculations going into earnings).
Only way to long US oil and gas is through midstream MLPs or like, frack sand companies.
You could long midstream and fracking contractors and short actual brent oil. Sounds like one of the lunatic fucking strategies a real oil speculator guy would do and make a shitton of money off.

Please keep posting stuff like this, it's educational. Didn't know we had a gentle/m/an in here. AMD and Sprint climbing. This is great.
>Bilibili app (beta edition) download ranking on iPhone app store last month So chilling effect is a thing in China too? And how retarded are they that requested removal of the app's official version but leave the beta edition untouched
way me feel when being choke fudged one way believe for after life why would human body make strangulation + loss of consciousness pleasurable unless it protecting something !?
A straddle is when you purchase call & put contracts same strike & expiration. It is used for when you expect a large move in the underlying. You lose money when the underlying trades flat/sideways (does not have a big move upward or downward).
>ODP earnings Gonna be a shitshow. Can't wait. I get the basic concept, but I'm trying to duplicate what you did for educational purposes and failing. I see you're doing a 12.50/12.50 that looks like it expires Aug 17th. Prices not correct?
Again, you're betting on the underlying moving A LOT. In the case of SNAP is needs to move in excess of 14% up or 24% down. SNAP averages 30% on ER. More risk is applied due to Implied Volatility increasing (IV Crush). The "trick" is to get in a trade that is undervalued by the market. This becomes increasingly difficult as earnings approach.

>IT'S SUPERIOR TO ROBINHOOD IN EVERY WAY It's owned by chinks, and I dislike and distrust chinks.
sorry, correction, I wrote that wrong.>More risk is applied due to Implied Volatility decreasing rapidly (IV Crush)
IV Crush occurs when the event that is being speculated about occurs (in this case, earnings)
Elijah Torres
I realize that, which is why I'm sitting here like a brainlet wojak watching this shit being done in awe. >betting on the underlying moving A LOT During ERs don't stocks usually move alot either up or down, making it a good idea to plan out your options trading before an ER?
Benjamin Martinez
Didn't some user say to short volatility couple days ago? I always stay out of that shit since it takes forever to settle funds and the best price changes are like, 20% on a threat of nuclear war.. Investors are undeterred by risk to the US market.
VIX and it's derivatives are boring and gay, basically is what I'm saying.
Thomas Scott
holy shit AMD im cumming
Jose Perry
>it's chinese Whenever somebody mentions anything China business related, I think of this long wall of text.
I hope it gets delisted and added to the boneyard of your portfolio.
James Hughes
>using a chink owned service. no
Yes. This is where IV comes into play. Implied Volatility nearly always has a steady increase as earnings approach. If you purchase too early you will get absolutely crushed by theta decay, even if the stock moves flat. It is a risky, tricky business.
Asher White
looking to sell a strangle in AMD at 16/23 for september. wish me luck
Nathan Ortiz
It's probably related to Intel being downgraded again. Intel stocks don't seem low enough to buy and hold. Think AMD will stabilize at 20 dollars per share end of Q4 or is this too conservative a price?
there is also the glorious Iron Butterfly. It is a lot like the condor; profit under same conditions. But the zone is smaller, and thus, the potential is greater.
Nathaniel Allen
No shit. Don't need a long ass wall of text to know that.
Evan Perez
You could, but IV is at 130% now (12.5 8/17)
Jayden Foster
So the move would have to be huge to overcome, correct?
Camden Clark
I just took a look at 8/10 contracts and the IV is at 200%
user businessman bought chinese steel for cheap finds out it's cheap for a reason. Chinese only believe in one thing, family ties. They can and will backstab each other.
How long have you been options trading? Some of this looks like you have to keep getting burned to get a real understanding of and develop an instinct in.
