Bitcoin is shit if other is shit. If anything, ether promises future utility, whereas Bitcoin is speculative like gold. From an investment standpoint, the commodity is the better choice. The oil market is far larger than the gold market. Long term, progress is linear; short term it is not.

Anything other than ether is speculation. Ether as a commodity promises future utility. The demand is strong. We wait for scaling.

bitcoin has purpose and real world value.
oil has temporary value.
gold has permanent value.

No one has made a dapp that justifies eth values. You're speculating someone may in the future and it will become a commodity.

I forgot to mention, my pal, but dapps are not going to be just for end users. Governments, supply chains, central banks, etc will use Ethereum's platform for infrastructure. End user dapp apps is not the most interesting to me. China is going to use Ethereum for their smart city. A German exchange end to end crypto will be built on Ethereum. Many other accounts that are very bullish I have not mentioned.
