It's much harder to get into than Skyrim or Oblivion, kind of dated and clunky in some aspects, and the graphics are shit. It'd make sense for someone playing it now not to like it, and I didn't at first myself. However, it makes up for it by having by far the best story, lore, and RPG elements of any of the TES games.

its kinda hardcore, you will have to read and wander around a lot (searching for caves and doors) if you want to complete most missions
also, the game doesn't tell you that every normal chest can used for personal storage and that you can't buy any house in the game
the best of all TES' for magic users and explorers (leaping spell)

Don’t know how many mods are still available but with hi res texture mods and some quality body and head replacers you can make Morrowind look pretty damn good for a nearly 20 year old game.

You'll have to get used to the aged mechanics. The game is a flawed masterpiece

Everything about Tribunal (the expansion) are OP and that's why I like it so much. My favorite quest was when you have to be a substitute for the main actor.

I don't think any other game sends high level assassins on you immediately after leaving the introduction

I guess Morrowind (and Skyrim, to a lesser extent) could be considered "racist" just because of how much the local Dunmer and Nords don't like outlanders, but it's a good kind of racism that makes the world feel more immersive imo. When I play a fantasy game where all the races live in harmony, it feels a little lazy and uninspired - but when a Dark Elf calls me a n'wah, or when the Whiterun innkeeper insults me for being a poncy elf faggot when I ask where to learn magic, it feels like a more developed world.
