This. Only native trees are truly beneficial, nonnatives do more harm than good in most cases. There are a bunch of different ways you can fuck up a tree during planting that will prevent it from living a long life, but it's subtle. Think 30 year vs 100 year lifespan. If you're planting in an urban area then there are other variables to consider as well.

What most of this people who do such legislation don't take into account that trees take majority of CO2 when they are growing up and very minimal amount when they are fully grown. Best option is to chop trees down every 25 years and plant new once not this irrelevant garbage.
If they're going to do it, do it RIGHT. They'd just plant some invasive tree species they got from their backyard, nothing of value gained. Planting is one thing, how about growing?
