My country might have strong traditions of music, literature, religion etc but I don't connect to them on a daily basis. Most people here live very similar lives to Americans, that's how the world is now. I consume media and culture from the UK, US, mainland Europe and Asia. I also can't say I feel a particular attachment to my ethnic Irish friends (which most of them are) over my other friends who from Britain or eastern Europe.
I'm not a leftist and I do think cultural cohesion in society is very important, but I really don't think this is as big of a deal as you fear. Anyone from a western-influenced, Christian culture can generally get along just fine and that's basically all Americans. You should feel grounded in the circle of people around you rather than your ethnic identity

Yes, but there was nothing that prevented those people from defending their land. They also didnt have their money taken away from them and given to these invaders.
