I like America, my girlfriend is American and lives in a nice place so I have a biased opinion.
What I've seen is fantastic, California up until Oregon (never been) was pretty and the people were incredibly kind.
New York was OK, it's good for 3 days but I couldn't live there.

Adding to this, there is a clear wealth gap in America and it's far worse than the United Kingdoms.
While we have a historic class system that our nation still has ingrained (I do not believe this is a bad thing), America's system is based on Darwinism and there exists no safety net; though in place of this there is no glass ceiling and you can achieve what you set out to do in America without (reasonable) political nor legal restraints that seem more prevalent in Europe.

There's an obvious homelessness epidemic in most major cities in the richest States.
New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco etc...
While you can be poor here, if you at least try there is a quality of life; whereas in such cities it costs to be poor and I realise that's a contradiction to what I said on glass ceilings, but for foreigners that are willing to work and not poor initially there is a better quality of life to be had than you see in Europe.
