Should I take out my 401k? It's at $11,000, I've literally lost $1000 in the past year. I'm 27 and thinking about putting it into a business instead. Thoughts?
Should I take out my 401k? It's at $11,000, I've literally lost $1000 in the past year...
stock market is making all time highs.
what kind of shit funds did you invest in to accomplish that loss? put the money in an sp500 fund and forget it. that's what a 401k is for. you can gamble your non-401k money user.
this is personal finance 101.
bitch that is the S&P
user, the standard and poors 500 is up on a 52-week basis and YTD basis.
again i'll ask, how the fuck are you losing money.
April 1st through June 30 I made $3.57 off of $11,000
I'd make better use of that money elsewhere. That's not even keeping up with inflation.
If you have your money in 401k you're a fucking sucker
youre uninformed. a 401k is a perfect way for any person to amass sizeable, tax deferred savings.
2 main factors here: company match + tax deductible contributions.
you literally put the money in and forget it. compounding does the rest. let the american economy do the heavy lifting. you have only been in the market for a short period, get some patience. the sp500 averages close to 10% per year in the long run. you missed out on earlier gains, but time is on your side.
OMG 27 and only 11K in your pension fund, holy shit, you're a loser. And if you do crypto, you'll lose even harder. Jesus Christ, you're the epitome of pathetic.
Don't you want to retire at 65 goy?
Yes idiot. Take it all out and buy crypto so you can loose it all. Obviously. Don't you read this board?
Post your stats faggot, fuck you
Do you work for a bank or the government? You're shilling is off the charts. I just told you what my returns were and you're telling me it's a great investment. I know how 401k works faggot, I know what company match is, that's how I got these funds.
LOL most people in their mid 20es who are not working a wagecuck job like McDonalds, easily have a pension fund of 10K .. Per year. IF you're 27 and cucking it that hard, jesus, you're never gonna make it bro.
Should you sell shitty hard to access boomer stock that's at an ATH?
Ya, dump that shit.
>loose it all
> loose
>posting common sense financial advice here
good fucking luck. these millenial weaboos know better than to get shilled amiright guys
Mensa member
youre beyond helping. yes, cash out your 401k and gamble it.
401k is for long term accumulation. if youre looking to get rich quick you are retarded, that's not what it is for. why do you claim to understand it so well yet your expectations are delusional?
Kill yourself you retarded short sighted brainlet. You don't even deserve the meager pile of capital you have
Because 401ks are risk-proof?
Stop shilling your reddit personalfinance advice based on the next generation being fine with being cucked
i pulled out my 401k in 2016 and bought crypto, turned $40k into $450k and withdrew most of it, still playing around with about $30k in the market now but it feels pretty good
>401k is for suckers
If your company matches you make 100% roi guaranteed you knob, and that's off pretax income too
How old are you faggot? This isn't the 80s
Look at this oldfuck who thinks his shitty outdated financial advice applies in 2018
>$3.57 return
>says I'm short sighted for wanting to pull money out
nice ad hom, shill
I’ll add my 2 cents.
Take a loan out against your 401k. I recently did this but I was only allowed to take a maximum of half out of my account, I ended up k my taking 25%. Granted I was contributing over 10% to my 401k since I started my job 3 years ago, so I had quite a bit saved.
Anyway, take a loan out against your 401k and setup your repayment plan. The beauty behind this is that the interest goes back to you, and not to (((them))). My payoff time is set for 12 months, so I will be having cash taken out of each paycheck for the next 12 months, by then it will be paid off.
lol youre so entitled and impatient you will never make money anywhere.
you do realize some old fags lost 50%+ on their initial investment in crypto only to make 1000x+?
Like other anons have said here, 401k is a solid way of saving for the future. Don’t jeapordize it by cashing it all out. Not to mention the tax penalties that will occur for doing so.
>solid way of saving for the future
>isn't even keeping up with inflation
holy shit do you faggots even read the thread? or are you a US government shill trying to prevent people from FUDing 401k?
yes withdraw it all and invest it ALL in eth as soon as you can
Imagine living in such an echo chamber that you can't accept real advice because it isn't in line with your delusions
hey faggot - here's a lesson. you don't compare an investment against inflation after 6 months in the market. if you want to trade, trade. that's not the same as investing. investing takes time.
get this - the market could go down 3% for the first 6 months of the year then go up 20% in the last 6 months of the year. that's a 17% yearly return if you don't know how to do math. if you sold because "it wasn't beating inflation", you just under-performed because you have the mentality of a child.
Imagine being this cucked out of your own money
Did you read my first post you dumb nigger? I didn’t say not to take anything out, just don’t take ALL of it out.
It’s called diversification, but if you really hate money so much then cash your shitty little sum of 11k, go waste it on shit coins.
You only made $410k on a $40k investment? Loser. I took $500 and made it into $2.4 million ATH. It’s down to $600k now but I’m thinking about going ALL IN LINK for my Hail Mary play. If I dump $600k into LINK the price should spike and then I cash out my $600k initial investment and free LINK which according to this board should make me millions. Can someone explain to me how this isn’t Free millions?
This. And if you take out a loan at the top of the stock market you can end up with more money or at least more shares of stock than you started with
kill yourself you fucking mong
It's been in there for 4 years, my new company has shitty 401k match
yup only 10x'd or so, didn't wanna push my luck, made a few lucky trades early on and was pretty happy with the gains
improved my life quite a bit though, bought a small house outright which basically pushed my life plan ahead by like 10 years so i can't complain at all
x10 is what most top performing coins did so this should be a pretty average return especially if you made some losses day trading
