This. Our government is forcing everyone over to public transit now and it's awful. Living in a tiny city as I do, driving to and from work will cost you $15 in road tolls alone, and gasoline is $8 per gallon.

Still, there's a growing market for high-speed rail, and the country could benefit greatly with an intercity service in select corridors. Getting legislation past auto/air/oil lobbying groups, however, is an entirely different question.
