My name is Ian, from the Hebrew "Yohanan" ("God is gracious"). Other names with this same root include John, Jean, Juan, Sean, Giovanni, Ivan, Jane, and Jack (but not Jacques!). These names all derive from the Latin form of the name, Juannes. I and J were interchangeable in Latin, as were V and U, hence Ivan and Ian (Ivannes and Iuannes instead of the more common interpretation of Juannes). This name entered Europe through Christianity, specifically thanks to two prominent Christian figures, Saint Yohanan the Baptist and Saint Yohanan the Apostle.
That's a surname though. Isn't my name different in French? Don't know how it's written though
People called me that when I was a kid but sure why not
Airport tickets usually can't have my full name so it just says Konstantin

It’s rather old fashioned but you’ll still find some people with this name. And yes it’s the same pronunciation except with the french «in» at the end
just say konsta, most Anglo counts are full of immigrants, we're used to weird foreign names even if we can't pronounce them right.
Rui
I've never heard costel till now
Yeah that's what we do in Greece. Without the s it's good but I've heard people call me Kostas and it's quite weird
*Anglo cunts
I mean, constance is really a gender less name but it's more common among women. Anglos would accept constance as your name though
Omar
Yeah that's true, I'll see what I prefer In case I live in an Anglo country
is costa actually the right way then?
Pretty much, yeah. You only introduce yourself as Kostas and everyone calls you Kosta
My name is Iván. My father wanted to call me Katia if I were a girl. Guess he likes Russian names.
