flag Im chinese/korean so my paremts made me pick up violin at age 5. I stopped in high school but I want to start music again. Considering an instrument switch, maybe pick up piano? I prefer jazz to classical so the switch would help with that
Yes, I played cello in high school. Also, you can play jazz on the violin. It's commonly featured in gypsy jazz.
Gavin Nelson
Played oboe for 8 years. Marched mellophone for 3. God I'm such a loser
Carson Torres
based and stringspilled yeah I know that violins can play jazz, but I like the orthodox older stuff like bill evans and 60s herbie hancock, so idk
David Foster
Oh, then I think you should go for piano, guitar, or bass. All three are really versatile and are in a lot of genres, so if you get bored with jazz you could play country or rock. Though I think learning bass would be tricky because you previously learned violin and re-learning the fingerboard will fuck with your mind.

that makes sense. thanks for the suggestion. I borrowed a friend's cello once and it seems that you need giant hands - my own are fairly smol, so I think piano would be good.
Ian Davis
Guitar, but I sucks
Elijah Baker
Flag I play piano quite well and am teaching myself banjo right now.
I used to play the violin when I was 10, I kinda abandoned it, but I still have it, and I think I could practice again... But I'm feeling like buying a bass, I played the one we had in highschool and I would like to get a good grasp on it too.
i am a godtier drummer. 8 years ago i had sex with the candian musical artist called GRIMES, and my drum skills helped me do it.

i am about to start drumming. i recently went to a show and one of the openers there drummed so insanely well it completely changed my perspective on it. How do i start?
Carson Foster
Yea, but I've been thinking of buying an electroacoustic one just for the sake of it
Luis Collins
piano. i had a qt instructor, so i still practice to keep the memories of playing with her.
was too poorfag even for serbia standards to learn any instrument.
Henry Scott
Dont you all automatically know some shitty folk instrument
Jack Martinez
only gypsies do. also i'm from string instrument part of serbia. brass fags can fuck off.
Christian Edwards
i never took lessons, i just naturally have rhythm inside of me, but it can be practiced. i got a shitty drumset when i was 5 and just wailed away on it all the time, i enjoyed the hell out of it and it was therapeutic for me so getting my practice in wasnt a chore, which was the biggest reason why i became really good at it. idk im not good at advice, i never took lessons so im not going to comment on them but youtube should have all the basics covered and just get good at that stuff. just remember though, drumming is loud and you cant hide it, practicing drumming is like trying to learn how to dance on a sidewalk downtown, you just have to push any insecurity out of your mind. filling your rums with pillows and covering them with shirts is a good way to minimize the sound though. hitting your bass drum will make pictures on your neighbors wall shake, just keep that in mind
