german easily. japanese is impossible to learn at a usable level without putting in really serious effort and time and even then you are only barely communicative. payoff is also rather non-existent

As someone living in an area with a massive Japanese corporate presence and working at a Japanese company, I wish my schools would’ve taught japanese instead of fucking Spanish. Spics don’t even live around here nor do they contribute to like 50%+ of our local economy

Austria
Switzerland
Liechtenstein

and parts of Belgium
and Luxembourg. A lot of Dutch People also speak German.

German is easier, the language is close to english and you already know the alphabet

I learnt german at uni an it is fucking easy as shit, literally just english but with different words, half of which sound the same when said slowly

Are you interested in studying in, living in, or visiting either Japan or Germany? Do you want to sleep with Japanese women? If you have no strong preference, I’d go German. Easier to learn and a bit more useful.

Learning Japanese is unimaginably hard, as besides words and pronunciation you also have to learn a different sentence structure etc. (and 3 different writing systems so complex most native speakers don't know all of them)
Learning German is much easier. It is somewhat related to English, meaning similar sentence structure and tense systems. But the genders really fuck non-native speakers over as you have to either learn a gender for every noun or sound like a complete retard to everyone that actually speaks the language.
Needless to say you probably won't be able to speak fluently if you start studying a language in college

One thing the jews should never be forgiven for is not enacting language studies in preschool so westerners are actually fluent in a foreign language instead of stumbling to vocabulary studies in fucking adulthood

both are easy languages to learn for an english speaker, but at least german vocabulary is already built into your brain since childhood as an american English speaker. you can become fluent in around 3 months of studying. to become fluent in japanese it takes around 7/8 months so, id go with german since it is for school and not hobby
