All governments have had coverups, that can't be denied, but you cannot compare the two systems. You can't deny that having a free media, they don't get away with all it. Lets just say that democracy is far far less shit than Communism. We don't have political "reeducation camps" like they have in China, we've never had to endure life like in the GDR under the Stasi. No one's ever been shipped off to the gulag. I've never been arrested for my political views, or outspoken criticism of the government of the day.
As for your boy, the Ecuadorian embassy kicked him out for smearing shit over their walls for one thing.
