Actually Kubrick hated traveling. Full Metal Jacket was actually filmed entirely in England.
Hunter Johnson
any big telescope can focus on the moon and still see shit left over by the apollo missions. kubrick did film fake landings but only as a last resort if the murricans failed. pains me to say humans wont be a space faring species unless a huge break in technological advancement comes soon. there is still no answer as to how humans will even be able to concieve in space, how can a fetus grow in low gravity? all sci fi have this special magic gravity generator, or some unattainable shit like o niel cylinders, but in reality what can generate an exact 1G in order for babby to grow in space especially on a space craft or space station. we are doomed to die on earth
Nolan Jackson
It was his crew. He commanded the directions from England. He did the same for the first shots of 2001 where he send some of his cameramen to africa.

Filming. Kubrick shot the film in England: in Cambridgeshire, on the Norfolk Broads, and at the former Millennium Mills, Beckton Gas Works, Newham (east London) and the Isle of Dogs. A former RAF and then British Army base, Bassingbourn Barracks doubled as the Parris Island Marine boot camp.
Jason Barnes
I meant he did the same for the moon landing, not Full Metal Jacket.
