This is considered rich in 2018
give me a link
Google literally starts new grad at 200k a year now
no begging, buy your own
That's hardly impressive. That's just a halfway paid-off house and no other debt.
Networth ≠ salary.
i cant find the link to this article through google. so unless this isn't medium the SEO for that website probably is shit. therefore this thread is shit.
Be careful it's a lereddit post. The best part is all the people who support him acting like he isn't poor as dogshit
thanks didn't know it was that nasty board.
Those jobs are incredibly competitive. May as well buy a lottery ticket if you don't have a world class education.
Being debt free and having a mortgage in your 20's isn't the norm.
Could I really support myself without working if I reach $500-600k? I think I could probably get there by the time I'm in my mid 30s. I'll never get married or have children so I won't have to worry about that.
My highest ever net worth was 27k, and that was for just a few days in january
In a 3rd world country yeah
Depends on how you invest your money and how long you plan to live along with the cost of your lifestyle. I don't think 500k would cut it even if you live frugally but a million could probably support you.
probably but it depends
I'm at 1.5m and don't spend any money because I don't want to work
I drive a 2012 ford and live in a 140k house
There's a difference between, acting rich / gaining attention like this faggot though. Everyone has to start at 1$ at some point. This guy wants a pat on the head like a lap dog.
more like you can't buy the lottery ticket if you don't have a world class education.
all you need is cs + leet code for months and you got a decent chance of passing
don't forget you have 400k in cash
The point of the post is that most of the prolific posters in that subreddit are tech fags talking about how easy it is to save while they're making $150k working as programmer.
180k cash 1.2m in crypto and the rest in assets
kek imagine the larping itt
No they don't lol
So sorry about that guys I started an ISP at 19; sold build another Web Design company and marketed to adult models. Sold; Oil and gas we build roads shared by majors Sold. Now i'm into weed. I started with 30,000 from my dad. You need some help to get moving.
How much did you have at ATH in crytpo?
So it took him years of wage cucking to have a net worth of 200k while I made a bit more than that in crypto in just a few months last year. top kekity kek
Great to see all these crypto millionaires in here even though all the coins have nosedived since February
700 Sq ft isn't even that small
kek
200k at 27 isn't impressive even though it's better than average it's still poor. Anyone with a brain can have 200k by 27 but most normies choose to spend money on stupid shit.
Enlighten me then, user. How do I do it?
I'm
>22
>will soon a have my Bachelor's degree
>work a shitty fucking job
live rent free
I am.
>200k
I mean, it's a lot, but the dude literally NEET'd right after college.
A large part of millenials have a negative networth because of debts while euros have shit-tier salaries and/or taxes.
Fucking bizfaggots and their delusion, if you have more than 200k in your 20s you are in the top 10% richest of your generation easily.
Not to mention RENT.
Also my interest rate is so fucking high on my student loans.
deluded 18 year old boomer
t. low iq white trash
200k in bumfuck south is pretty rich, desu
It's 200k at 27 with a SAHM while making $75k.
its easy to save money if you make it a priority and separate yourself from herd mentality and don't try to "keep up with the Joneses", it also helps if you aren't particularly social and constantly being pressured to waste money on things like restaurant eating, expensive activities (weekend traveling, frequent sporting event spectating, lots of social drinking, etc.)
There's two ways to accumulate money: earn more, or spend less, ideally both.
Get your living costs down as much as possible. Live rent free, or roommate if free isn't an option. Eat cheap, cooking simple meals at home - don't "treat" yourself to expensive snacks all the time, think of food as fuel for your body and nothing more. Don't waste money on entertainment (movie theatre etc) just pirate everything for free, don't become obsessed with tech gadgets, it's fine to have a 5 year old cellphone or older computer. Don't obsess over fashion or appearance, I mean dress cleanly but you can do that with $10 t-shirts, $25 pants, and $50 shoes. Don't buy a new car - always at least 3-5 years old so you avoid the bulk of depreciation, preferably even older (I drive 8-10 year old cars typically that are in good condition with lower mileage and buy them outright in cash), don't carry credit card debt, as in if you use it pay it off before you're on the hook for interest.
Personally this is how I live and I manage to save about 50% of my post-tax income.
lol I am 23 and have 100k in the bank
>only worked min wage jobs and never invested in crypto
Not all of us want to sell our anuses to men user.
As long as you didn't get a meme degree you should make at least 80k a year. You'll have 5 years to save at least 40k a year which is easy and boom you'll have 200k.
>work a 100k job when living with parents
>1 year passes
>100k in the bank account
I'm great at saving money, don't worry.
But how do I make this sort of money? I'm a web designer and programmer.
>Implying it's hard to save 1/2 your income
This is why poor people stay poor
That field should net you at least 80k a year easy. You can also do freelance work to add on to that which is popular in web design.
>A household led by a 25-29 year old with a net worth of $200,000.00 was in net worth centile 95% in 2016. This centile ranged from $188,392.59 to $221,279.27. Around 427,561 of the 8,551,226 households in this age range had $188,392.59 or more in net worth.
Shut the fuck up retard
t. european
wtf this is impressive?
my net worth is ~300k and im 19
and it would be like 10k if it was not for crypto
you got lucky and are quite literally in the .001% percent
19 aswell total crypto worth rn $1200
its not easy goys
I wasn't talking about europoors
18 here. went from $600k to $35k. feelsbadman.
Compared to most parts of Western Europe, that is actually a lot of money. Your middle class is our upper-class, at least here in Germany. I think our cost of living must be lower though
$600k invested in a preferred share ETF would pay out about $30k annually in dividends with the share price and dividend payouts tracking at minimum with inflation. Taxes on dividends are usually really low compared to being some cuck landlord who's taxed at marginal income.
And depending on your risk tolerance you'd also have about $1.2 million in margin to either invest in income producing etf's/stocks or sell options which won't cause you to be charged interest.
initial amount invested - and when ?
Rich = Champaign income and beer taste
$3k when i was 16.
Close.

>$200k net worth at 27
>he thinks he made it, kek
that would be impressive if he was 12, at 27 it's not even worth mentioning
Holy fuck
my intial was nearly twice as much. all hard money earned with my bare hands. guess not everyone can be lucky in life...
contemplating to cash out the pathetic three digits that I have left. Why even bother...
Even less than that if you are active and well ranked in coding competitions. My friend got hired off TopCoder in 2010.
just living in a paid off 4 plex you'd get by. depending on where you live you could even buy something bigger or another house (assuming you live somwhere this would be affordable at all though).
We're talking about normies here...most normies at even 47 probably don't have 200k networth
>it also helps if you aren't particularly social
I love being introverted/misanthropic
3.4m lool
So what? I made 200k + in stock market. What is this guys point?
200k real money at 27 is pretty amazing.
About 40% do, though it's probably mostly tied up in home equity.

Still a horrible statistic though.
Depends if he has a house/vehicle, etc.
ya took me till i was 30 to pass 200k
Well those people are hitting prime earning years, kid expenses level off, and then they can spend about a half mill over fifteen years of retirement. And that's alongside social security which, if we do nothing, will pay out 75% of current payments as long as they live.
It's not impressive but normies get by.
cause and effect of tech bubble user
Max kek achieved for the day. Thank you I sleep comfy tonight
My highest net worth was when I was 18 and had 11k from a minimum wage job in high school.
JUST
and you can't be white. only shitskins and chinks need apply
nah you could, here's a little trick, grow your hair a bit longer for the interview
If anyone goes this route, just be cognizant of diminishing returns due to inflation. 30k expenses in 30 years may be poverty-tier.
I'm 40 and worth 2k, top kek. I enjoy shitposting.
Get good at react.js and start applying to a bunch of companies in Seattle, NY, or Bay Area for frontend/fullstack roles. I started at 80k in fkn Utah 3 years ago and am now at 140k in Seattle.
Those numbers are unironically shit. Base salary for San Bruno is listed as 140K, probably around 100K after taxes. Stock options and bonuses are usually bait and have a fuck ton of conditions to stop anyone from getting them. Avg rent in San Bruno is 3K per month, which leaves around 65K in savings. Now deduct expenses for food, bills, transportation and so on.
Fucking lmao. I had a $400k net worth at 19, you don't see me writing articles bragging about it.
>$175000 = $200k
>tfw 27, net worth of 30k, wife hasn't finished college
JUST
What's with dumb fucking Americans quoting their net worth, income BEFORE FUCKING TAX?
Apparently everyone on Jow Forums had six figures in their teens. You are one of the many annoying niggers on Jow Forums. Congrats.
>make 200k/yr
>live in San Francisco
>pay 100k/yr in taxes
>pay 30k/yr in rent
>pay 10k/yr in other assorted living expenses
I applied to 900 motherfucking coding jobs you autist. And yes, I know React pretty well along with several other languages. Unless you know someone, you won't get shit. Stop giving these people false hope. You probably have rich parents and live in a bubble of privilege.
Did you have a degree? Any kind of proof that you actually knew how to code?
That's called your gross income, nigger
yup
l3 to l4 only takes 2 years at most
He memorized FizzBizz. He thinks he can code. He probably doesn't even host his own MMO.
Then you obviously have shit grades or a really shit resume. I'm not saying programming is the automatic ticket to luxury, but there's no way you shouldn't be able to find a decent $50k/yr starting job if you live in the USA. If you live in Spain or Greece or something, that's another matter.
