In Spanish-speaking countries not named Argentina, children get two surnames: the father's first surname followed by the mother's first surname. Women in those countries very rarely, if at all, adopt their husbands' surnames when they get married.
It's like if Nigel Hawthorne married Elizabeth Silverstone and had daughter whom they called Alice, the latter's full name would be Alice Hawthorne Silverstone.
