Dude you can't comprehend how much wealth these guys have, they have so much that its more interesting for them to break this oil dependency and with that some power structures in the world. They still got tons and tons of money and with that tons of power.
Saudi families have lately been purging corroption within their political structures. These guys are seriously moving forward, for whatever reason but it appears positive. Some young Saudi prince has been investing really hard into renewable energy. This boy has grown up with these riches, and I figure he's a little more considerate of his position than his corrupt brothers and uncles.
The amount of oil these people has is insane, and there will always still be oil needed for certain products, what are they going to do? Just keep this going for another 100 years at the possible expense of ruining their market? Or change, use their insane wealth for wealth creation and with that break new markets?
