How culturally different is the US and Canada?

To Jow Forums posters who've visited both our countries, how culturally different do you feel we are?

Identical

canada has qt indian girls and we have qt latina. otherwise we're the same.

Montreal and quebec city are pretty different.

Canadian English is like American English but sounds a little strange, like they're almost not a native speaker.

Slightly different. Indistinguishable to a foreigner, but an American who spends a lot of time in Canada will notice differences (and vice versa)

I would think the metric system makes a huge difference

That isn't really a cultural difference

The accent is very different. Others don't realize it but Canadians can always naturally tell when someone is an American because they've subconsciously noticed their accents. I don't mean to insult Americans, but the accent sounds douchey. Like Chad.

Then why do people say USA is a 3rd world country while Canada is scandinavia-tier?

I'm pretty sure other Canadians find Quebec to be foreign too

>Canada is scandinavia-tier

That's a meme. America and Canada have different cultural approaches to wealth, which results in countries that appear to have different levels of development. I've heard America called the land of the rich, and I've heard Canada called the land of the middle class.

>gdp is an indicator of a country's wellbeing
Imagine being this stupid
>ooo the wealth of the extremely rich makes me rich

You do know we have different accents. I probably sound more like you than I do a Cajun or someone from Boston.

Are you that easily baited.

Both were made by the ANGLO and should be English provinces.

Attached: 1559873095813.png (334x346, 127K)

The US really isn't that Anglo. We're more influenced by Continental Europe than anything else.

Is it really the accents or just vocabulary? I find that sometimes I can tell where someone is from by the words they use.

because they're more left leaning so American lefties and European worship it

I didn't say you all are anglos tho, I said your country was made by them.

debatable. Most people who identify as "American" are Appalachians who are Scots-Irish.

Combining that with people who identified as Irish, English, Scottish, make the British Isles the majority.

You have two main distinct cultures.
The English and the French.

as culturally different as south dakota from north dakota

We basically are a British/German hybrid with a bunch of influence from the French (not genetic more like Francophiles). Then throw in random shit like Mexicans, Scandinavians, Italians, Poles, African Americans, Ashkenazis, French Canadians, Native Americans etc.

We have less fat people, generally more intelligent people and smaller servings of food. Our culture, way of life, and values are very similar. People here still listen to nigger rap, support multiculturalism and gay pride, and focus on themselves.

Canada is like a region of the U.S. with a very strong local culture. Almost kind of like if the South had become independent.

People here are generally better informed and more intelligent. There's also less fat people.

The fat ones need to be trimmed from the health care system.

But as the map shows, German influence dominates

How does Anglo culture influence our day to day lives

It's a pretty odd thing though the more I think about. Indians and asians come to these countries only to get lost in this narcissist way of life and end up buying high quality clothes and the nicest cars. They threw away their soul and themselves for buying more things, it's a sad thought but I guess it's what some people really want

Especially because ours is tax payer funded. Chinks and shitskins love going to the ER for a stubbed toe though.

>debatable. Most people who identify as "American" are Appalachians who are Scots-Irish.
Extremely fallacious. Whites all over the South identify as American on these forms, and they are mostly of English ancestry. Not to mention that Scots Irish are Anglo as well and are more culturally similar to English people than they are to Taigs.
Anyways combine "American", "English", "Scottish", "Welsh" and "Scots Irish" and the map looks very different.

canadians are milquetoast americans

What language do you think you're typing in?

Attached: mmmm.jpg (230x205, 12K)

Canada is a country with a national identity based on Tim Hortons. It's a meme. US with Queen + Le Frenchies.

>German influence dominates
In your alternative world.

>he only speaks the common tongue

Attached: 1556626898088.png (800x800, 15K)

Everything I typed is an American spelling soo...

u.s. and canada being different countries is just a fukken meme.

there is no any real reason why canada couldn't be just a state of the murica.

>what is Quebec

Go to Montreal and tell me that its like the USA.

Why do Yanks think they have anything whatsoever to do with Germany or Germans? Fuck's sake France had more influence on America than Germany did.

To me it's more there slang than accent. Standard American and Canadian sounds the same. Cajun or a heavy southern accent sounds stranger to me. If you didnt come to int would you know what a bag of home, pencil crayons, hydro, etc. was?

Go to Montreal and tell me its like Saskatchewan.
The existence of an a distinct culture within Canada doesn't disprove that the rest of Canada is identical to the USA

because ww1. We were brutally mistreated by the Anglos for speaking German or doing German things.

I live in a "German" city in the midwest on that map and the only German thing we do is Oktoberfest and sing translated to English German drinking songs.

Attached: germany.jpg (580x195, 27K)

You've not used a single word of American origin in this thread,

Attached: Shut it.png (906x706, 1.33M)

I'd actually argue that Germans had a large influence on American cuisine, however by that logic we are an Indian nation.
We are an Anglo country, however Germany probably had a larger cultural impact on America than the French did, unless you are talking about Louisiana.

Because America got filled with German people.
They populated a lot of the Midwest.

Brits are basically Germans anyways.

Color me surprised.

The northern US (near the border) obviously has more in common with Canada than, like, Texas or something.

>How does Anglo culture influence our day to day lives
This is probably bait but:
Our language.
Our law.
Our aversion to sex and nudity
Our protestant religion.
Shall I continue

We're pretty much the same but Canadians will never admit it

Chips are chips
fries are fries
crisps are crisps

Taking that U out has really left me floundering, I can't understand a word you're typing. Truly American is a real language.

how's the labor party been recently?

Well, it's not like the differences between all the dialects of Spanish.

But now I ask you to speak only using words that are not of French, Latin, Greek, Scandinavian, or German in origin.

German culture barely even exists in America, outside of Amish and fundamentalist communities. They all anglicised their surnames and renamed their towns during the Great War.

Most of the German cultural influence is near indistinguishable from the British influence -after all the food, religion and Protestant work ethic are very similar to what the British brought.

Attached: IMG_0062.jpg (850x404, 103K)

What would be the point in that? English vocab is majority Germanic/Romance with a little Greek thrown in.
You've quite literally taken away all my options.

India has the language and law
The religious parts, the UK is much more liberal than the US is
Germany is also Protestant

>India has the language
A meme. Only 12.8% of Indians can speak English and the amount of Indian native speakers is too insignificant to even mention it. A higher percentage of Americans can speak Spanish than Indians can speak English.
Proof: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_English-speaking_population
>India has the law
True, but as I said it lacks language.
>The religious parts, the UK is much more liberal than the US is
The fact that UK is less religious in 2019 is irelevent to whether or not American religion is Anglo in origin.
>Germany is also Protestant
Yes, and far more American protestants come from Anglo sects such as Baptists, Methodists, Episcopalians, Presbyterians than German sects such as Lutherans.
I will admit that Germans had an influence on cuisine, but Indians (Casino not Curry) had an even greater impact on cuisine than Germans did, and it would be preposterous to say that America is an Indian country.

Yeah Irish people aren’t British you dumb fuck

>British Isles

B^)

That’s not a thing. I’m irish and have nothing to do with Scotland wales or England

>I'm Irish

pic related

Attached: 1559001987861.jpg (500x619, 69K)

I notice people don’t really claim to be English. Why?

I reckon it's something to do with the revolutionary war and how far back most English settlers came here.

For example my family is Texan and they have no fucking clue how they got to the US. All they know is that they came to Texas a bit before the war against Mexico

most english americans are old stock

Fuck I forgot the Irish. BTW this was a D-Day picture of the 101st's demo squad The Filthy Thirteen. They were the inspiration for the dirty dozen. They were sent in ahead of the landing to blow bridges. Half were wounded, captured or killed. They still managed to blow the targeted bridges. The guy who lead them during the shitstorm was part choctaw (the native inspiration) and was called McNasty.

>There's also less fat people.
Maybe on numbers but the fat scooter guy with the Blue Jay's hat is yours. You also have a lot of borderline people and the French canadians I've met above 40 (I'm from New England) are seriously fatter than the local adults.

We have that with illegals. They go to the ER for a cold. They increase the wait times and then later skip on the bill. The hospital makes up the lost bill by charging more for things to those who pay and insurance companies. So our "insane" hospital bills for things like tylenol are heavily due to them. But the hospital legally cant turn them away no matter how bullshit the sickness is and their legal status. If we back charged their home countries by scalping remittance it would lower our healthcare cost.

Hes writing in raccoon speak.
Try writing without German or Latin route words.

"She is a skateboard" there I used zero Anglo origin words.

When I went to canada I drove past a lot of injun casinos. Some strip malls and walmarts. They had a slogan on the walmart I went in just to see if it was as shit as in the states. The slogan read: the true north strong and fresh.
Just like us.

Canada is basically a watered down US and everything is more expensive.
Canada is independent yet it tries to hold onto "lol look how much we luv the crown" bullshit.
Canada has a lot of copy-paste houses in your towns. like rows of the exact same house just different siding. I know this happens in the states a lot too but it just seems so much more common in Canada.

He may actually be. Do you know how many kegels and illegals we have?
>t.NYC
We have a lot of 20 something Irish.

I will if asked but I'm different in that I have an English great grandfather who was alive when I was a kid. Most of my other English side is colonial (1620 mass and Virginia) so they probably would have been more English than say modern Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Manchester (Great Grandfather's family originated in Salford though his mother was Manx). My nana and great grandfather said things I never picked up on like rubbish instead of trash. He said aluminium and battrey.

Where did you drive through.

I drove around lake superior. Entered at sault ste marie and passed through thunder bay.

Canada isn't America-lite, America is Canada-lite

Don't you know any proper English words?
Has the bard given you nothing?

Are you okay?

this
we were first

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Americans, is in fact, Canadians and Americans, or as I've recently taken to calling it, masterrace and muttshits. Americans are not an ethnic group unto itself, but merely a consumer class made useful by based Canadians, a vital group thanks to which USMCA exists.
Many Jow Forums users mistake Canadians for Americans every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the Canadian group is often called "Americans", and many of Jow Forumsolerants are not aware that it is basically the Canadians, a North American masterrace.
There really are Americans, but Canadians are no part of it. Canadians are different, much more civilized and stuff. This is essential for you to realize. Americans often include Canadians, but basically it's Americans with Canadians added. All the so called "White Americans" are really Canadians

>generally more intelligent people
I have yet to see any significant evidence of that on Jow Forums.

What lol

I been to Canada, they are like floppier, more boring, kinda worn out working class Americans

Not a bad thing but thats what they are
