Moscow is very westernised, you can get past without knowing a single word of Russian for normal activities like eating, hotels, fun shit. Only issue is actually speaking to girls, unless you manage to find a slag 99% of the girls won't want to do much with you.
Best thing is to try to find some Russian mates cause they know loads of fun shit to do, the metro is probably one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life. Shit like the red square is great too, it really is a stunning place.
