Republic Of Korea
South Hanguk and North Joseon
Based and democracy-pilled
Goryeo
高丽
Kpopcutieland

We going to remake the Corean Empire and annex Japan kekeke
Chōsen
T English teacher
Korea is the English name
Wtf is that
I think you mean 高麗
That's how the word gook came to be
Basically Korean kept saying Miguk(America) during the war and they thought they said "me gook".
Eventually it carried on into Vietnam
Goryeo with a Buddhist monarchy
by our constitution nk is not a legal state in any terms
so it's gonna be just named hanguk
Let's be real, Joseon is better sounding name.
Hanguk, what kind of name is that? Han land? That's super confusing considering the billions of Chinese ethnicity also called han next door.
Holy Fucking Based
Joseon was Confucian autism and ruined Korea
Thier capital city was called 漢城 (yes with the Han for Han Chinese )
This is the best choice. Goryeo sounds like a masculine version of the name "Korea". Joseon sounds feminine and Hanguk sounds cucked.
China
Korea actually comes from Goryeo
So Korea has never had a name as a unified country, there has always been a north and south distinction?
GOGURYEO THE GREATEST OF KOREAN KINGDOMS
Ah that's interesting and makes sense. Why doesn't Korea just call itself Goryeo? The international community already calls it a variation of that name so it would be easy for people to adjust, and Goryeo is the original name of the united Korea anyway.
Republic of Goreyo
>GOGVRYEON BVLL
I did not know that Korea is a foreign name.
LOL...
Nah, none of that "Republic of x" bullshit. "GOREYO" on its own sounds awesome. A simple, standout name for a great future nation.
Republic of Gonorrhoea.
Then what about Chadland?

The entire country was called Joseon until 1897 but then in 1897 they Korean king had an autistic fit and delcared himself emperor and renamed the country "大韓帝國" or "The Great Han Empire".
When North Korea was established they saw themself as the successor of Joseon so they used the traditional name.
In South Korea they saw themself as successor to 大韓帝國 so they named themself 大韓民國
Korean autonomous region administered by PRC
>x land
Generic as hell.
>inb4 New Zealand
I wish our country was named "Aotearoa".
It should be named Goryo because
1. Joseon sucked too much Chink dick
2. Han in Hanguk reminds of Chinks
The only to ensure Korean sovereignty is to go with Goryo
Maori scum.
lmao based and redpilled
Was this manlet Gojong high?
>Declares a new era name and declares himself an emperor to cut Chinese vassal status
>Names the country a homophone of Chinese ethnicity
What the fuck
This so much. I wish for a unified Korea under the Goryeo name. It would be glorious on the world map.
I'm of English, Scottish and Irish ancestry. Not a single drop of Maori blood.
Manlet Gojong
There was a group of tribes called 三韓 back in bronze age which later became Baekje and Shila. Apparently he wanted to be like those small weak tribes.
over the centuries, Koreans commonly referred to the three kingdoms as Sam-han(삼한,三韓) “Three Han,” possibly to differentiate them from Sam-guk used to describe the Three Kingdoms of China. Whatever the reason for this decision, it played a role in forming the identity of the Korean people. The Koreans have always seen themselves as the descendants of the three “Han(한),” which at the height of their power conquered vast swaths of land, repelled numerous of invasions against all odds, grew enormously wealthy through trade with faraway peoples, and developed a beautiful, distinct culture.
Thus, “Han” evolved to become a name for the Koreans in general.
Also unlike China and Japan, the meaning of Hanja does not matter with the our national name
This is because it just used hanja with the same sound as Korean
Han(한), It's pure Korean word. The meaning is big and wide.
The three hans(goguryeo, baekje, silla) gathered together to become one nation and became huge = Daehan(대한,大韓)
This is the meaning of the Korean name "Daehan"
So, even if we become unified, we will keep Daehan as it is.
Why did he give it a unifying name if Korea was already unified?
Is there proof Koreans called their ethnic Han?
United korea the Tributary puppet states of China
Hangeon
Me gook
Han-gook sounds appropriate
Yes, even in your country's history books.
Do you like Korea?
DAE HWAN JE GUK (大桓帝國)
Joseon were a bunch of pussy Sinaboo cucks. They overthrew Goryeo and put in their own Confucian loving asses in because Goryeo was planning to invade the Ming and retake Liaodong. The same Ming who fucking got wrecked by the Oirat Mongols a few years later at the Tumu Crisis.
No, but I love you
Nothing other than Hanguk is acceptable of course
NK wants to call it Confederal Republic of Koryo. For true unification both would probably still choose Korea/Koryo/Goryeo because international recognition
Different Han. Korean used Chinese character but not necessarily Chinese meaning. Also in mando it has different tone
Just means big. Old koreans interchanges between different hans characters
Korea was unified for more than millenium
Goryeo is just different romanization spelling of Korea. Same with Koryo. All the same thing. Think like Color vs Colour
>those small weak tribes
No... samhan's old meaning is that. Samhan's meaning from avout 6th century was Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla.... Even Tang dtnasty called them Samhan. So Han or Samhan means (united) people of Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla.
This. Very good knowledge.
Yes. It began about 6th century. Even Sui and Tang Chinese call Goguryeo Baekje Silla = Samhan
This.
Why?
Imagine having your country named after some long gone dynasty.
Imagine having your country named after some long gone tree.
The tree still exists though?
