So, I am visiting this shithole in October. Any no-go zones? Should I be worried of getting mugged in the street? Is the metro usable? I am kind of a hipster and enjoy historical shit, any recommendations on what to visit? Would you recommend renting a car? I am planning to stay for 3 days and then head to DC for two days.

>enjoy historical shit
go to the cloisters

brace for the smell
Unlike Europe, we don't have No-Go Zones. Just don't be a naive idiot and you'll be fine.
If Americans get too close throw them food and walk away slowly. This way they won't attack
calm down you baby
No you'll be gunned down immediately and all American public transport is unusable and crowded with blacks etc. etc.
Manhattan is totally safe and anyone who doesn't enjoy it's streets is inhuman. Enjoy the crisp pizza, sights and museums. There's history there alright but Boston and DC are better for that, though there's smaller cities in the deep south that are better for that imo. (Savannah, Charleston, St Augustine)
ny is pretty safe, there are many weird ass hobos, that's all, well and you may encounter some rats
I live there it's really safe. If you plan on traveling a lot get the weekly Metro card. You can use it every 18 minute for 30 some dollars. Instead of 2.75 for each trip. Make sure to take the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. There's a a lot of nice things to see. Check out different parts of Queens and Brooklyn.
>coming to the US for new york shitty and washington DC (District of Congo)
Governors Island is also a nice walk and the ferry is for free. When I went there there were some old guys re-enacting the civil war.
NYC is unironically the best city for newcomers, no other city makes as good of a first impression, though some might prefer Chicago or Philly. Would definitely recommend it over LA any day of the week.
After one gets a feel for NYC then they can go around exploring Denver, Seattle, Atlanta and all the other emerging cities and the countryside.
reminds of the German that said he went to America and it was shitty and full of blacks
we asked where he went, he said Alabama
You'll be fine, Giuliani gave the NYPD extra teeth and turned the city into one of the safest in the country. Hell, just last year it became safer than London and I'd imagine its better off than Paris too. Just don't be an idiot and you'll be fine.
>No-go zones
lel this isn't Europe
>DC
Now that city is a fucking shithole. Don't wander about at night and stick to museums and shit owned by the government.
Why is DC so dangerous?
>NYC is unironically the best city for newcomers, no other city makes as good of a first impression
NYC is unmatched when it comes to the things it makes the city stand out. Not even London comes close.
this. fuck new York and fuck tourist
t. bitter masshole
Because the city is basically a trap for the impoverished who don't have the money to flee to the suburbs or Arlington. Black ethnic enclaves all over the city, high rates of poverty, immigrants, homeless everywhere, city itself is run down, apparently there is some sort of HIV pandemic, etc. Its certainly no New Orleans, don't get me wrong, but it isn't New York or Austin either.
Don't give money to anyone, don't follow anyone into an alley or weird part of town, don't waste money on corporate restaurants in tourist areas.
There aren't any truly good jewish delis or bakeries anymore.
If you are a weeb, go to Ichiran for an extremely expensive but authentic bowl of ramen (19$). It tastes the same as the Japanese ichirans
Also this, if you stay in the populated even mildly tourist areas there will be a cop around every corner waiting to kill the minority who tries to hurt you.
It is crazy how many cops there are in nyc. Nothing like Seattle/Portland/SF
everywhere you'd go as a tourist is 100% safer than anywhere in belgium
Your country is shit.
if you go to time square just remember there's going to be noggins trying to sell their shitty ass mix tape. ignore them and treat them like second class citizens. don't show an ounce of fear because if you do they're not gonna stop bothering about that shit.

Also if you like asian stuff in anyway Flushing is a nicer Chinatown than the one in Manhattan although taking the 7 takes you pretty far.
