Couldn't disagree more. As a car enthusiast, coming to the birthplace of the modern automobile was great. The Porsche and Mercedes museums were tremendous. I also made it to the Porsche Entwicklungszentrum and listened to the latest engines roaring on their test circuit.

Umso erstaunlicher, dass die baden-württembergische Landeshauptstadt in Sachen Faustrecht in negativer Hinsicht führend ist: 6901 Körperverletzungen registrierte die Polizei in Stuttgart – so viele wie noch nie. Selbst vor 20 Jahren, als es noch erheblich mehr Kriminalität gab, hatte es fast nur halb so viele Fälle gegeben. Selbst die böse Main-Metropole ist da relativ ein Waisenknabe – mit lediglich 5671 Körperverletzungen.
Woran es liegt, vermögen beide Polizeipräsidenten nicht zu erklären. Der seit Jahren beklagte ruppigere Umgang unter Jugendlichen, die Lust an Gewalt in engem Zusammenhang mit Machtgehabe, die Unfähigkeit, Konflikte verbal auszutragen – all das gibt es in allen Städten. Auch mit dem sogenannten Wutbürger, der durch den Stuttgart-21-Protest geprägt wurde, hat dies kaum etwas zu tun. Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass in Stuttgart eher Anzeige erstattet wird und öfter ganze Cliquen an den Prügeleien beteiligt sind.
Polizeilich registrierte 11900 Opfer in Stuttgart – das klingt nicht gerade nach beschaulicher Stadt. Selbst Frankfurt liegt mit 10800 Opfern deutlich darunter. 777 Stuttgarter Opfer stammen übrigens aus den Reihen der Polizei: Erstmals haben die Stuttgarter Ordnungshüter jene Beamten, die Blessuren bei widerborstigem Widerstand erlitten haben, in die Statistik eingearbeitet.
