how do people live in the south when it's really hot in the summer
is it true that it's almost impossible to live there without AC?
is it true that the urban sprawl can be hellish and people commute like an hour to get to their home
doubles
>how do people live in the south when it's really hot in the summer
people who live in the deep south and spend a lot of time outside always have hot dog coloured skin with the texture of a fifty year old leather shoe that was accidentally put in a dryer, so I imagine most of them die of skin cancer
>is it true that it's almost impossible to live there without AC?
yes
>is it true that the urban sprawl can be hellish and people commute like an hour to get to their home
no, not at all. In Texas, however, this is both true, and 100x worse than you can even imagine.
Those are both true 100%
99.99% of buildings have AC and they're always running
European summer feels much worse because there's nowhere to escape
If you're a hermit like me, you rarely sweat during the summer, despite 30-35C heat with 70% humidity every summer day
>>how do people live in the south when it's really hot in the summer
>people who live in the deep south and spend a lot of time outside always have hot dog coloured skin with the texture of a fifty year old leather shoe that was accidentally put in a dryer, so I imagine most of them die of skin cancer
That's Australia
My house is like, 78 degrees right now, I just deal. It can get pretty muggy in my bedrooom because I have so much electronics running, but it's doable. I barely run AC. The urban sprawl is there, but there aren't that many big cities in the south. California (LA), Texas, and the northeast megalopolis are American commute time hell
>78 degrees
americans live on the sun
>how do people live in the south when it's really hot in the summer
air conditioners
>is it true that it's almost impossible to live there without AC?
most people wouldn't previously tolerate it. Old Texans have told me that people didn't really move in mass to TX before air conditioners were made easily available. Old plantation homes mostly have high ceilings and I've been told that was for the heat to float up.
>is it true that the urban sprawl can be hellish and people commute like an hour to get to their home.
the long commute is because of the traffic, not the distance you have to go. its getting worse all the time in TX. however, its still better than Chicago traffic tbqh
imagine having enough money to even own an AC let alone being able to run it
>there's nowhere to escape
I know more people who have AC at home than people who don't, but I live in a hot region
thanks for the respone guys
is it true that property is still very affordable for most people and the average person has a higher quality of life than people on the coasts?
summers have been getting hellish here in europe every year, but we don't have the AC ventilation in apartments and homes like you guys do because we didn't need it before
Southrons are just Australians who have accepted Jesus
Huh the only frogs I've talked to don't have AC
and guns.. dont forget he guns
>summers getting hellish
if anything its been getting more windy and cold here
summers around 2012 were actual hell, you could throw a pan on the sidewalks and cook your food back then
>My house is like, 78 degrees right now
are you me? I keep my ac at about 78 too.
also, checked
But I'm Southern and on the coast. Does that mean I've basically won the lottery of life?
Shut the fuck up virginia
seething poorfag ay-rab
it's more affordable inland than on the coast for sure
and ye summers here used to be terrible before the spread of AC. the humidity in the south is so bad that folks would empty their closets so their clothes wouldnt mold and on some really bad days would just sleep outside (you'll see balconies on old plantation homes used to sleep on during hot nights)
I wouldn't say that people have a higher quality of life down here, but I think that it's because obesity is a large problem and healthcare can get spotty in rural areas, which the south has a lot of. Property is pretty cheap, but there are cities where it's getting pretty bad. In my state, Charleston has a really hot property market, but there are other cities like Asheville and Nashville in other states where house prices are getting high.
I probably am, my room is much hotter though.
>you'll see balconies on old plantation homes used to sleep on during hot nights)
i want a plantation home so bad lads..
Entirely possible as well, it's not in 100% homes and depending where they lived it might not even be necessary
all the yuppies moving to Nashville are shit but there's so much more to do than there used to be. leaves me conflicted
>t I think that it's because obesity is a large problem and healthcare can get spotty in rural areas
The former is pretty new though and the later has always been the case. what the hell happened that made southerners get so fat anyways? I can look at B&W pics and they are clearly not all ham planets.
think it will spoil people?
>The former is pretty new though and the later has always been the case.
consolidation is what's happening. Rural hospitals are closing and smaller grocery stores are closing too, creating food deserts in poorer, rural areas. Poor people, especially in rural areas, have less access to healthy food and quality healthcare
no, I just don't want to be outnumbered by crypto-Yanks in yet another Southern city
Nashville has always been full of liberals and degens, but at least they were Southerb liberals and degens with twangs and manners
comshoe on my mind
youtube.com
>Rural hospitals are closing and smaller grocery stores are closing too, creating food deserts in poorer, rural areas.
but what is that a function of? scarcity in population, income, or both? also people in the country can easily grow their own food from seeds and raise chickens. They aren't living how their ancestors did. They put shit into their bodies that their forefathers didn't even have access to. I have relatives with these issues and they look at me like I'm so novel because most all I eat is meat, vegetables, cheese, and occasionally fruit. I drink water and I don't have juice or soda. Its an issue that this is weird to them.
southern liberals walk around like they have a stick way up their ass but they are STILL better then yankee libs. I agree. Why are they moving to the south anyways? is it because its cheap or are they trying to breed us out or .... does anyone know what they want?!
>but what is that a function of?
Depopulation, rising rural land prices and taxes, and lack of income
Literally nobody gives a shit about it either since everyone is screaming autistically about Blumpf or the random distraction of the week
I care!! I want to save them all. dag-namit
collegiate gothic
american anglo architecture is so beautiful nothing else can compare
>florida has a tonne of beautiful historical university architecture
>the building for the architecture students is ugly as fuck and they'll be taught to make more ugly shite in it
aGh...
based and redpilled
these are posts that echo back into the past of /dixie/
why do you lads have the most beautiful and also the shittiest buildings in the world
is that just americas gimmick
y-yeah...
Lmao nobody is going to save them
The trade war has dropped US export profits to China, our largest importer of crops, by 72%
Thousands of farmers have lost land as a result of bankruptcy since their number one buyer is no longer buying
Nobody wants to work on farms or ranches either or live rurally where infrastructure is crumbling and everyone is moving out or over 50 years old, there's a labor shortage, meaning higher wages for what few workers you can entice there on top of next to no profits
But hey, the Fed "Promises" it'll send another lovely 13 billion bailout that isn't enough to save even half of the people suffering and will just go on to pad the pockets of the people who are suffering the least, i.e. corporate farmers who are taking this opportunity to buy up foreclosed lands
This isn't even touching the fact that the past two years have been a mix of flooding and drought across the nation that has only been exacerbating the situation
The most infuriating part of all of this is the people who've never seen a farm from outside of their car claiming that the rural population consists of inbred welfare queens when they're not responsible whatsoever with the policies enacted by the majority of the population, which lives in suburbs and urban areas
We're practically on the verge of another dust-bowl, though instead of massive dust storms the thing driving people out from the countryside is their own countrymen
It'll more than likely also be the catalyst for our next Great Depression/Recession
Yippee ki yay
>that time we were going to destroy london bridge so americans painstakingly transported it to america and kept it
feel bad about that
makes us seem like cunts
>london bridge is now in some weird shitty city in the middle of arizona in the middle of a desert
Konstantiniyye on my mind

Gotta admit it's pretty aesthetic tho
>Konstantiniyye's historic name in armenian is stimbol
Still has the city of london emblem and stuff on, pretty cool 2bh
>stimulant bolshevik
armenian ideologies getting out of hand
selçuk's called it stambul after hearing it from the armenians appareantly.
Although most locals got the name from greek Stanpolis meaning ''going to the city''
>polis
oh i thought it was a muslim name
I don't know if I agree with all of that. there are more types of farmers than just those that feed the needs of China. I know a lot have grown for their soy needs but bankruptcy isn't the end of life either. Its just a court proceeding not a death sentence. Plenty of small farmers make plenty of money selling domestically or nit to China. I know some that live out where my family is and they grow various things none of which is exported. Plenty of farmers will tell you that its easy to get screwed when farming and end up broke as shit from a few years of bad weather because that just the risk at any given time and I do know farmers that have gotten out of farming because of that.
Farming has a lot of weird shit attached to is where the gov is involved. I also know farmers in IL that get paid by the government just to grow corn and let it rot on their land without even harvesting it. Farmers know the risks of farming. My sorrow for them is tempered.
no the origin of the word existed before we came here
also the fuck is a muslim name
doesnt 'stan' come from islam or something
Astarfalilouhahkhamedineboudine
no its used in both persian and greek
muslims arent a hivemind
>there are more types of farmers than just those that feed the needs of China
I'm aware, the most profits come from the Central Valley who don't do "too" much business with China
>I also know farmers in IL that get paid by the government just to grow corn and let it rot on their land without even harvesting it
Those are the ones who eat up aid money while people who actually grow to sell are left in the dust since the Fed is fucking retarded
Stan is a proud Evropean name for those who embody the bardic spirit
>boudine
as french as it gets
Those are some NUMERALS
Hein
TAKBIR
ZOO-WEE MAMA
also
>mfw a random visitor croat gets more (you)'s than I ever did
Boudine itself yes, but I have seen several muslims with names ending in -boudine it didn't come randomly
>I'm aware, the most profits come from the Central Valley who don't do "too" much business with China
what do they grow there?
>Those are the ones who eat up aid money while people who actually grow to sell are left in the dust since the Fed is fucking retarded
yeah fug those guys.. I think farming as an industry deserves a second look. I would like it to become a national focus as health and diet increasingly becomes a focus. I'd like to see more farm to market foods.
point is, there are problems yes... but I also think there are opportunities for people who are looking for them.
literally never heard of boudine in my life
I thought he was you and you misplaced your flags
its cause he was intrested in the south and wasnt an autist/shitposter
Anything you can think of really
Lots of vegetables
Prolly some niche immigrants, you said it yourself muslims aren't a hivemind
come on come on gimme those (you)s
based, they should band together and squeeze out Mexico. I shiver every time I have to buy their shit instead of US grown crops. I always buy from Americans farmers where I can but too often I cant. not sure what the issue is. maybe the distributors idk.
alri
you arent my boss nigger
(sen)
you're mistaken there
I'm from the PNW and am in the South for the army and it's positively uncivilized how hot and humid it is here. How was this place ever settled before AC? We don't even have AC back home but all non-slave industry must have halted during the summer here before AC or else everyone worked at night
im not your clown, nigger
what the FUCK
Uncle Sam is a shrewd buyer
munched up a big ole kebab wrap 2bh
