At 1% interest compounded monthly that's 2000 per month, easily covers my current expenses. It would be a humble life yes but doable. Pair that with a part time (or full time) job in a low stress low skill field that you actually enjoyed instead of working because you had to and you'd easily be set if you're careful. I started working at 16. I'm 46 and a cash machine for a family who don't give a fuck about me. I'm not even sure they know fathers are human. I've started planning my will since it might be contested f I make it to near my death. I'm leaving everything to galleries and art museums quietly starting 24 months beforehand. All these anons thinking that a couple of hundred grand or even a million can be lived off forgot about tax and minimum retirement age. I'd rather be dead than keep having to earn for another 20 years.

I have a female supervisor at the office. Very annoying woman that basically wants me to talk with her amd entertain her but if I were to say something that she is against she looks like she'll get upset/mad. She doesn't want a friend she wants a robot slave. Worst part is, it's evident she isn't as smart as me lol another lady who is in a way her superior is questioning her intelligence as well haha. Forgets some of the simpliest work things and how to do them and guess who has to help her, me usually. Takes advantage of my hard work ethic, she pisses me off big time. There's only 2 other people therw that really agitate me, one of them is quitting soon and the other is likely being moved to another location. Literally only leaving one annoyimg as fuck employee, my supervisor.

My plan is to find a new job or get into a position where she has no authority over me. Have an interview this Friday, for a position within the organization I'm no longer interested in pursuing a career in. Not sure whether to go or not mostly because of this annoying supervisor. If it hadn't been for her I'd skip.

I'm not that interested and the pay is only about 0.50 more an hour. HOWEVER the drive will likely be 40 minutes to an hour versus my current drive of 10 to 15 minutes.

It's impossible. I made a million by the time I was 30. That would be a lot more now. Taxman comes. Takes his chunk. Then house. Property tax, if you have kids you have to have health insurance. You have to pay income and social taxes. There is no escape. All I have seen is more new taxes my whole life. I don't want to dox myself but I gave it a good run. You need a million just to fucking retire when you are nearly dead already. Its rigged. You can't escape. Maybe a few hundred in a billion get such incredible odds they do but that just a bit of decoration to tease you with the possibility. You'd need to make 15 million at least. 7.5 goes in income taxes, capital gains, over your lifetime more in health insurance, property tax, whatever tax more capital gains, more income tax, more social tax etc etc Then you nee a million to retire. You can't escape its rigged.

lets say you are what 25, you will probably be cursed with a legal retirement age of 70, that mean you will have to earn for 45 years. If you commute that means lets say 80 minutes a day, let's say four weeks off a year plus weekends you're going to spend nearly two years commuting alone. Someone check my math, I'm tired.

You don't get it. As your earnings rise your taxes rise and if you have a home or a family or a car (unless you want to live as a cold miserable tramp in your late 30s) it does not matter how much you make per hour. There is no possibility of you stopping work for more that a handful of years and if you do, you will be back to square one again.

One other think, I've know a lot of people who hid very well and have up to 30-200 million in assets and drive flash cards. They all owe pretty much every single penny in tax and loans and live in perpetual fear. No one escapes

Going off some cost of living indices, it's maybe 40% cheaper than my own expenses? That'd be like $15,000/year, which, at a 3-3.5% withdrawal rate means you can support it, inflation adjusted, indefinitely, never earning any other income, with a $425k-$500k portfolio.

Let's be real most of those people are unlikely to achieve that dream unless they move to some 3rd world country or they'll get to retire 3 years sooner with all that long term planning versus themselves not planning it so intently.

I'd certainly like to retire by 40, 50 flat at the latest but that is unlikely. I have no interest in moving to most countries besides some European ones, Russia, maybe Greenland, and maybe a few in Asia.
