What's the future of mining?

this thought popped up while reading about how Vletnam suspended the import of crypto mining equipment .
we mine since 2009 and we have seen it evolving from hobby scale to company size, while many issues have been raised by the miners.
energy costs, centralized mining centers, poor returns for solo miners and many more

For sure there is plenty space for improvement in mining. As you pointed out, we are following the evolution of mining since 2009 and see how it developed. Don't know about you OP, but for me, one of the biggest issue is the energy consumption. Ofc there others as well, but for me this is a priority.

Crypto solar tech for energy consumption & environmental matters. Some companies have its own solar plants as well as mining infrastructure.

Future crypto projects will consist in no mining at all. Other forms of earning will rise out of it in order to gain popularity and utility.

Mining is already influencing the market due to pools that can decide the path of a coin. It is not sustainable on the long term

I argue againt mining. I am a simple trader and honestly I don't like the idea of my investment not being secure enough or protected against 51% attacks or political like system where some are appointed to take decisions regarding my money.

Yes, future projects has to find solutions for this type of issues.
First they have to realize where is the problem and work on fixing them.

i'd bet that in the future bitcoin is the only major proof of work coin out there. certainly there won't be any more other sha256 clones around, because even today all of them are trivially 51% attacked by a tiny percentage of bitcoin's hashrate.

no new coin that launches with proof of work today will succeed, that's a guarantee, and most of the legacy coins using proof of work today will fade away unless they have a concrete plan from the beginning to move away from it like ethereum.

in the crypto ecosystem, it really doesn't make sense for any more than one coin to be proof of work, because just one being proof of work makes all of the rest proof of work by trade, and it' far more important to get something like bitcoin massively distributed and not chink'd than having 100+ shitcoins all with different algorithms and therefore ASICs when none of them are actually secure

Yeah I know Skycoin is pre-mined so traditional mining issues are gone. Also, because of those incentives people are joining the game, but what is the probability for it to become mass-adopted?

It will take time for mass adoption. The response time and adoption of the people when it comes for new tech, unfortunately is quite big sometimes. What Skycoin is trying to do with its projects and Skyminer is sustainable and realisable in the same time. Only they have to be patient and attract people as much as possible.

Now they are in Vegas, presenting the Skyminer, people seems fascinated by it.
