Hey biz, I'm currently a grad student in one of the top institutions in the world studying rare diseases. There is a classmate of mine who is an absolute overachiever who already has a MD, scored perfect on the GRE, and afaik she scored perfect on every exams we took together. She was a good friend of mine as we were the only two koreans in the program. There is a phenomenon called "jeong", you can look that up if you want. Today I found out that she quit school without telling anyone. At first I thought she quit because she is in her late 20s and already has a husband who is a doctor so maybe she wanted to have babies. But knowing her and her passion for research, I knew that wasn't it. I speculated more and I came to the conclusion that she probably transferred to a better school with better networks. This was so surprising because she works with one of the most famous investigators in the world. I was thinking, how the fuck do you top that? When this thought came to pass, I was hit with all sorts of emotions including jealousy and insecurity because it was so sudden and unexpected. I finally understood the cliche that goes something like "the people who don't want you to succeed will always drag you down back to their level" because I became "that" guy in the cliche. Like I said, I'm speculating because she ghosted everyone by changing her number and she doesn't have any forms of social media whatsoever. Anyway, I want to feel happy for her because she is trying to better her career and I should be supportive of that. Thanks for reading. Inb4 "not reading your blog faggot"

I admit I do have a thing for status. But don't we all? Just look at the people buying lambos with their crypto returns So you don't think it's a big deal to you. Maybe I do need to just get a grip.
