yeah i like doing puts on UVXY and VXX because then you get the contango/futures roll burn working FOR you, so even if VIX stays same, UVXY and VXX will still lose something to the contango. this contango effect worsens the more its IN contango, and the closer to futures expiry.
i say short side is easier than long w vol because its much easier to predict, when the VIX has spiked, that it will go down, than it is to predict when the whole market will suddenly shit itself
personally i like looking at HYG and IWM imo, both of these lead the market by a decent amount. when you see IWM taking off, and VIX is spiked, buy a UVXY/VXX put (i like the VXX ones better) with some decent time on em (or buy a VIX put, which i do sometimes depending on who has the best premium/delta ratio)
imo the only way to rationally go LONG on VIX is w calls on the CFD (so that in case youre wrong and have to HODL, you dont get assblasted by contango), but its MUCH harder to call the long side, like i said. the market goes up more than it goes down
pot is still federally illegal in the us, i mean who knows the second there is a consideration for it to take it off the class 1 drug list, and stronger support from american growers, you may be ok... i mean i traded pot for like a week bbut... too easy to see a raid and your whole investment go bust, plus you have to look at the demographics regarding where the companies are located, how municipalities step in and fuck your shit... buying pot is good for short term highs, but loong term the effects of the drug is why i prefer pussy and alcohol. and if you want to get high and piss clean for a drug test cocaine is good tooo.
