The enormous amount of shorts almost certainly points to an imminent short squeeze.
Bitcoin is losing volatility in order to zero in on the 6k support.
At that point, volume will decide direction, and it's sure as shit looking like it'll be sending us below support, whereupon 6k becomes our new resistance and we'll be into the 3k-6k channel for another, what, 6 months, at least?
