I started learning french, a really fun and interesting language! Has anybody here tried/succeeded learning It and If yes, what tips/resources were important for your progress?
I went through the Mega/pastebin but the sheer amount of options makes it hard to decide.

discord is an extremely centralized chatroom system which is kind of pioneering the new-ish paradigm of datamining as the primary driver of profit
it's kind of cancerous in itself for that and other technical reasons but it also attracts a certain type of person
the "culture" of discord may or may not be independent of how discord works in a technical/economic sense; but you can't just deny that the culture is there. it is the absolute epitome of dramashit, nameshittery, sekrit clubism, pettiness, and general sexual deviancy. you know how people always say the internet is bad because it allows people to form exclusive cult-like groups and not have to interact with outside thoughts? discord is just a classic example of that but even worse because the culture is so fucked

One with usernames and accounts, one that encourages a chatroom style of posting, has a friend's system and other things that are mostly contrary to how imageboards work and attract people who do not mesh well with anonymous posting.
What matters is what the majority of Discord users make it out to be, which is a cancerous shitposting chatroom. I don't irrationally hate Discord, I've been in 50 different servers and every one is mostly shitposting in the general tab and all the actual discussion sections are slow and dead as fuck. Now you could say this is also true for boards like Jow Forums, but most of the rest of Jow Forums actually stays on topic most of the time. It may be shitposting on topic but boards actually have identity and not everything is distilled into a shitty chatroom. I've also been in quite a few /vg/ threads over the years and have seen firsthand how much of an largely negative impact it has on generals.
Not going to contribute to the conversation further, this is my first and probably last post in the thread, just getting my thoughts on there on why there are totally valid reasons to not like it.

And those words are already absorbed into Indonesian spelling system, so theoritically it should've been read as [manajəmən] and [efen], respectively. Also note that most Indonesians don't make a sound distinction between letter 'f' and 'v', it's both pronounced as [f], and only few people know the difference. The letter 'e' can represent [e] and [ə]. There's also letter 'k' that when used in last position can either represent [k] or a glottal stop. But most of the time the spelling system is rather consistent.

Besides that we usually devoice the last consonant in a word if it's ending in a voiced consonant, for example: babad [babat], adab [adap], etc. Though it doesn't always happen.

Fellers using Memrise, do you learn your target language/s using only the courses provided by Memrise themselves or is it better to use courses made by other users? Also is it worth paying for? I spend a lot of time away from home so it'd be ideal to not have some gay ass paywall in the way on my phone all the time.

first of all, its only ever good for vocab, it wont teach you a whole language. while the standard courses have those goofy videos of native speakers, a lot of usermade content does have audio samples too. seeing as the memrise courses are usually only available for real money, you should definitely just use custom decks.
