If they don't know what professions the parents of their students have they won't be preferential towards anyone based on their biases. What might happen for example is that teachers will cater to the poor kids because they think they're retards by default, or avoid rich kids because they might be afraid that the parents can get them kicked out of the school due to their high position. Without this knowledge the actual retards will be catered to, even if they're rich.

I don't know how things are in fantasy land, but in the real world social class is a thing and usually you can tell when someone is rich or poor. Sure, a millionaire might dress with a t-shirt and jeans and have a watch for 10 Euros, but the kind of rich fucks who want to make it a point they're rich will look the part.
