How do I go form A to あ, without clicking the tray? If Alt+Shift is used to change languages, how do I change the layout in a language?

On the Google IME for Windows, you can change from あ to A using the shift button.

Is 分かる typically written with kana? My IME almost always ignores this word in particular when I convert sentences to kanji and I need to change it specifically.

I went to install it just for the shortcut, and then it offered me to disable the default shortcut for it, which is Ctrl+Shift.
