Is there any downside to giving up your American citizenship? You know, besides, not living there?

I literally cannot think of one other reason why you would want an American citizenship. So if you're not ever planning on living there it would make sense to give it up right because of taxes and shit. You can never move to Monaco or any tax haven and pay no taxes as long as you have the IRS on your tail. They will make exceptions if you are being taxed by a western country but if you go to a tax haven they expect the full amount of their extortion!

I live here user, between Tampa and Orlando. It's pretty nice here but it's humid mostly which isn't very nice. Now in the fall and winter it's warm-cold and it's a lovely warmth. Don't worry about Cletus, he's friendly and half your entertainment.

If you make more than 110k outside of the US and are a citizen you need to put dubble taxes. This is why most people renounce.
