First grade, teacher starts being all fucking dramatic and crying, barely paying attention cause ADHD brain, just a vague notion in the back of my head that something's not right but i wasn't in the least bit alarmed or concerned.

We got on busses and went home, I wasn't even really thinking of why, and I sat in front of the couch with my parents and had a salad of lettuce and black olives in a little plastic bowl shaped like a half a head of lettuce.

I remember looking up at the screen and I guess i looked about 2 seconds into an animation of the plane going through the building, but i didn't see the plane part of the animation and just a big fireball.

so i asked my dad "did someone throw a grenade out of the window?" and he was like "no a plane hit it" and i was just like "oh."

i was an extremely, extremely fucking stupid little kid and my mind was just absolutely shapeless and without foundation, context, rigidity, or fluid thought. pretty much the instincts of a dog, until i was way older i literally processed information like a dog. just thought about what was in front of me pretty much and thats it

as years went on, friends who had family work down in the city would confess that their uncle or dad or cousin etc.. died in the towers/around them, which was pretty depressing.

The internet is not also one centralized thing, it's the interconnection of literally billions of computers. The data is not floating around ephemerally. It physically exists on user 0, user 1, and user 2's computers, and they are choosing to share it with you. You'd have to literally wipe the entire power grid worldwide, destroy all the cables, and damage every single computer on earth to destroy the internet.
Even in the event of nuclear war, not everything everywhere would be destroyed, just all of the things in big, well known, high-density places would be destroyed. Some redneck living in the middle of bumfuck Alaska, New Zealand, Canada, Siberia, Patagonia, etc. will still be alive and have their computer. Even if it takes years to restore power, that doesn't mean hard drives won't have data anymore.
