We are 'det ganske land', as in ganz. We have no other places to go. We hate the other parts of Norway, so home is where we stay.

So what you do all day there? I mean job wise or for fun?

You work, eat your dinner, refurbish your apartment, save up money for a vacation abroad (were you will seek out other norwegians and complain about the warm weather but boost about the cheap alcohol).

They drink cheap vodka and ride snowmobiles

What work? No seriously I can't imagine you can have a nice live in some small isolated, cold dark town.

In the grocery store, as a teacher, your own hardware store. have a little imagination and entrepreneurship.
you grow a vegetable garden. you refurbish your apartment. its a hobbits life. norwegians are hobbits. we do not belong to or are off the same cloth that europeans are.

here in the canaries, still sunny and the temperature has barely gone over 25ºC during these days and it's predicted to go slightly lower.

I had stayed with a Danish family for a week for an exchange program. The mother was Danish and her ex-husband was Norwegian, when I asked them about where did they live in Norway before coming to Denmark, she literally pointed to most northern place in Norway.
