Salvini's rhetoric is kind of lost in translation i think so a lot of foreigners don't understand him fully. English is a simpler language and a lot of the nuances and references he makes can't be translated. He does a lot of whataboutisms and vague winking to a nostalgic part of the population, but doesn't have much substance other than contesting whatever he finds.

1) Euro crisis: Appeased the bankers by paying private debts of gambling banks with tax payer money. To deflect from this, she was ok that german media spun the myth of the 'lazy greek' who needs to be put to work. Effect: Southern Europe hates us, giant sum of tax payer money went to bankers who actually caused the crisis, fueled a ridiculous superior complex among the germans, akin of 'Am Deutschen Wesen soll die Welt genesen' of Wilhelm II
2) Refugee Crisis: Reacted much too late, it was known 2013-2014 that hundred thousands of refugees would come to europe. Merkel didnt prepare anything, instead she blamed balcan states like Hungary for either (1) keeping the refugees and treating them 'bad' or (2) not keeping the refugees and letting them travel to germany (Note the bigotry !!!) When Orban said fuck it, and let ALL refugees come to germany, she pressured a treaty for distribution of the refugees in between EU countries HOWEVER not a single EU country, not even fucking france,
was faithful to the treaty. Now, all refugees are in krautland, causing terrorism and ridiculous welfare costs.
3) Snowden Crisis: When the first snowden revelations surfaced her government did nothing. Literally nothing. Only as it became known that HER phone was also tapped she was forced to react and invented the 'No-Spy-pact' which should ensure that USA doesnt spy on its german 'ally'...However, nothing happened, to this day there is now such treaty in power. The way she reacted showed that she doesnt give a single fuck about the rights of the german citizens. To this day, fundamental rights of german citizens are broken million-fold and she doesnt give a fuck.
4) Ukraine crisis...
