Charizard sold for $40k

>Charizard sold for $40k
>Black Lotus sold for $85k
>Mickey Mantle sold for $1million
>Cards continue to go up in value every day, and rarely ever go down

Anyone who doesn't take trading cards seriously at this point is fooling themselves

There's no point in taking them seriously unless you're still holding a two boxes of Alpha that your uncle gave to you when his comic shop went out of business in 1994.

>bought a PSA graded 8 1st ed. Charizard ten years ago for $500
>it now sells for $2800

That's nothing. A mere 560% gain over 10 years. The real money was made by people who bought 1st ed Base Set or Alpha boxes in the 1990s-early 2000s.

Is there any card game I should accumulate now? Or should I buy fidget spinners?

Yugioh. Or Beanie Babies.

Fidget Spinners are a shit investment. If you want to invest in a modern (2010s) collectible, buy Amiibos or POPs.

And I'm actually serious about Yugioh and Beanie Babies, btw. Yugioh and Beanie prices are positioned to skyrocket in the next 5 years.

early magic cards were already rare in 1995.
heres a mtg price guide in 2002

I feel good, so I will give a tip, NovaBlitz

I'm suddenly really nostalgic for Yugioh, what pack should I buy off of Amazon right now?

So what do I buy? Because pretty sure yugioh cards are no longer in store let alone first gen stuff. So I buy that stuff from collectors? What kind of gains am I looking forward to?

>Underground Sea $13 in 2002
>$600 now

Seems like buying MTG in 2002 would have been a smart idea. And honestly, prices are only going to continue going up - for Pokemon, TCG, and Yugioh, never down. So I'd definitely recommend investing at least $10K into trading cards.

How do these hold up in a recession or depression?

Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon, Metal Raiders, Magic Ruler, Pharaoh's Servant, Labyrinth of Nightmare, Legacy of Darkness, Pharaonic Guardian, Magician's Force, Dark Crisis, and Invasion of Chaos. Anything after Invasion of Chaos is a shit investment.

NOTE: ONLY BUY 1ST EDITION PACKS!!! KONAMI ROUTINELY REPRINTS THE UNLIMITED EDITION VERSIONS!!!

Someone answer this user

Guys what if we pool our money together and buy a good portion of the Yu-Gi-Oh cards together? Like literally sell out retail vendors and create an artificial shortage of like a booster or something. Then we sell them back to actual collectors at inflated prices. Would this work?

For that, I'd recommend Dark Saviors. It's out of print and high demand.

So I buy a few of these and then I get a box of boosters? How many you think I need to buy. I have like $20k of random shit money in garbage coins I was going to liquidate in btc anyway, might as well try something experimental.

Could you tell me more?

Sky Striker is one of the best decks right now, also, almost every deck splashes some Sky Striker cards as an engine since they are just that damn good. And they are only available in this set.

Also, DO NOT buy out Amazon. Buy out TCGPlayer; that site is essentially the Coinbase of trading cards.

So say I buy 20k worth of these boxes? Do you think they sell out before that? Can't see any stock info. Then do I just put them in storage and forget about them? Or actually pull all the cards and see what I have?

Also, how do you know they are out of print? I am getting a pretty good amount of 2018 videos and reddit posts about that set. So I am looking at like 5 years from now to see gains? Or how quick do they appreciate?

Hyperion, a one of a kind card in the first Blockchain based TCG 'Gods Unchained' sold for 146 ETH. This market is about to move to crypto. Advantage of GU over Hearthstone is that the players are free to trade/sell the cards they buy.

Wait, sorry, I thought you were looking for a quick flip. If you're looking for a long term hold, buy 1st Ed packs from LOB-IOC.

I'm already in it. This ride is gonna be sick

Oh shit, we might own those.

Meanwhile, yugioh cards keep going down in value over time because of reprints lmao. Which is fine by me. Yugioh is actually fun. Yugioh is for playing, mtg trash and basedkemon is for selling

Can I get a link? Can't find this through google

yep

Gods Unchained is gonna be the next TCG to make early holders rich.

I got 100 packs ready to open.

i'm gonna play the beta so hardcore, learn which is top 5 cards, and buy the fuck out of it on the market... until i hold 80%+ of the copies and then laugh my way to 7 figures as everyone wants the op card

Are digital card games the future?

A friend of mine was buying every single Amibo, he had at least 100 different ones last time I saw

Basically. Yugioh is like Hearthstone, and MTG/Pokemon are like the Blockchain TCGs.

Yes. Digital everything is the future. Physical capital has nowhere to go but down in the long term.

>acquired a bunch when i was a kid
>they are all beat up because I actually played with them
