Housing has apparently gotten so expensive in Commiefornia that even people making six figures out of the big tech offices like Google, Twitter are living out in their vans. They have whole trailer parks dedicated for these people. There's also a mass exodus of people leaving Cali along with NJ and NY due to such high housing costs, everyone is fleeing south.
People making 6 figures in Cali living in their cars and vans lmao
This needs to be dealt with. We don't want them coming south and bringing their straw hating attitudes with them.
It's the redpilled thing to do. While basedboys shell out 4k a month for an apartment, you can live in a Mercedes Sprinter for 40K a year.
Alternatively, you can share a shitty apartment for ~800-1000$/mo and have a 40 minute commute to work. I'd rather live by myself desu.
Almost everyone who wants to make it these days sleeps in their office/van in California. Anyone else, is just a debtslave.
late stage capitalism
how the fuck do you get decent internet connection in a van
A trailer park filled with tech nerds with disposable income sounds super comfy. Why is OP so bitter? Penne are just trying their best you homo.
>Living out of your van is the way to go
WTF? Why not just live somewhere else instead of living in Commiefornia? It's pretty clear that it will only get worse.
>Just get a fancy, high profile tech job somewhere else besides where all the fancy, high profile tech jobs are
B R A I N L E T
>Because if you qualify to work at Google you surely couldnt work anywhere else, no way
A similar thing happens in the uk. All the best jobs are in london with retarded house prices. Although I'm not a mutt I've always got the impression all the good jobs are in california or the states around new york
>give up your $400,000 google salary for a $100,000 salary and boomer box
Won’t make it
>what is quality of life
Ok tell me where you are going to find a tech job with 200K starting salary anywhere else besides Commiefornia?
>living out of a fucking van
Beats being a debt slave heh
pretty based desu
Yes and then live in a van because despite making 6 figures you’re still too poor to afford a home.
What's seriously the point of wageslaving at this point?
An extra $300,000 and savings on housing costs buys a lot of extra qol.
I would live in a trailer for pay like that. No problem. Literally work for 10 years and you’ve made the equivalent of 40 years at $100,000. How’s that for quality of life? Work 20 years and you’ve made more than you could in a whole lifetime at $100,000.
You live in a van for 5 years and then you just buy a town in the middle of nowhere, basically.
It's not just about the salary and the numbers on paper you brainlet. It's called QUALITY OF LIFE. This is why doctors and lawyers are never considered rich. They make a good salary and have steady income, but they work all the time and the job is high stress.
It's the same thing with this shit. Yeah you make $200k but you live out in a van and pay double or triple the national average for everything, how is that a good quality of life you fucking brainlet? You just end up working all the time at the office, constantly saving, despite the fact that ON PAPER you make a good salary.
>everything is 3x as expensive
Whoops
Because even a retard can earn six figures in San Francisco.
Why would I move out to the Midwest and make half my 160K salary, when I can just live like a jew and retire before 35.
>3x price
>4x salary
>I'll save up
>Commiefornia's x2, x3, x4 rates won't affect me
>Spending your younger years not doing anything
>Falling for the Jew meme
I rent out space in a parking garage and have electricity & WiFi there, but I'm in the heart of San Francisco, so I can get internet pretty much anywhere for free.
I literally put away 90K last year and I'm 26. Show me how many people in the midwest are doing that. I only work 45 hours a week, so it's not like I have some high stress job or something either.
>35 yo
>have steady job and full-time contract
>Make decent amount of money. Middle class basically
>Can't do anything with said money
>Can't buy a home cus too expensive
>Saving up is useless because of the ridiculous low interest rates
>Can't build my own comfy home (tiny or not) because of building regulations
>Can't live in trailer or camper because it's forbidden
>Can't rent a nice appartment with a single decent salary, because boomers sucked the private renting market dry
>Can't rent social appartment because waiting lists are 14+ years in my city
>etc
There literally is no point of wageslaving anymore user. I've been seriously considering just dropping out of the rat-race entirely... maybe work 2 days a week or so and just neet with parents again.
When I was living in Michigan I was wageslaving and living with my parents. House ownership is a meme, I'd rather buy a house to rent it out and live in the garage.
>living in a trailer in alabama to save money instead of living in a trailer in california and making more money
I don’t see why you’re so uptight about this, they’re obviously not doing it because it’s fucking luxurious so there must be a benefit that you’re missing. Probably that enormous check that comes through every month.
Let’s just some quick math and assume $200,000 is a good example salary for a google job. They pay more than that for a lot of positions.
$200k. Maybe 25% gets taxed. So you keep $150k. That’s $12,500 a month. You’re a real classy fuck and spend $5,000 a month on yourself. Food etc. Plus you have a car payment. Maybe all in all that’s $7,500 a month. You have $5,000 left for the rent.
How the fuck is this not enough for any housing? Or do they just not want to drive more than 20 minutes? That’s plenty.
HOLY BRAINLET
So let me get this straight - you'd rather spend your younger years living out in a van in Commiefornia, working for the Jews, living like a Jew, somehow manage to save your money despite ALL prices in Cali being at least double the national average, and then somehow *retire* early
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
FUCKING BIZ AHAHAHAHAHA
First of all, liar liar pants on fire, like hell you put away $90k at 26, but its biz so I made $300k last year lmao
>Show me how many people in the midwest are doing that.
They arent doing that because they dont have to. Their expenses are not nearly as bad as yours you brainlet, they dont care. Having lived in both the North, West, and South - the life people lead is better in the midwest and south. You know why?
Because their expenses are so low they dont even care about saving as much as you do. You say you put away $90k as if its an accomplishment. It's not. It literally doesn't concern them.
>implying most people can get jobs at Google
>implying you'll pay an effective tax rate of 25% in California
Of course I agree with you that if you are going to live like a Jew in a low cost of living area, you might as well move into an expensive city and do the same because the benefits are magnified.
Who says I'm living in California when I'm retired?
I will just buy a house in the Midwest or Colorado & retire early. I already have 330K saved, and I only started working at 22.
Putting away 90K in California isn't hard if you have
I dont understand why you dont see the big picture.
First of all they dont pay that much, more like $150,000.
Second of all, the effective tax rate for Cali is like NJ where I lived, its around 40%. That's equal to around $90k a year, and now you need to pay rent, which averages around $3,000 all inclusive.
You are treading water out there. Seriously, alot of you are really naive. I've lived in NJ and out West a little bit. It's not that easy to save.
Base salary is closer to 150K, sure but you get a lot of non-cash compensation if you work for a FAANG.
>buy property in oder to avoid rent
>pay property taxes as high as rent
>Started working at 22
>330k saved in the span of 4 years
Just stop lying. It's not helping your argument.
underrated
I can't relate to boomers, sorry.
You obviously have no real world experience if you think living in Bumfuck, Indiana to make a "life", which includes buying some house in the middle of nowhere, more than likely with no where near the same amount of similarly aged people or things to do (besides dining at bars) you would find in bigger population centers.
STOP COMING TO TEXAS
REEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I am 20 y/o living in Australia, and I would love to open and run a bar in the future sometime. I have worked hospitality for many years and know the business quite well already, as so I should.
I would like to know Jow Forums's opinion on opening and running a bar? Specifically a more cocktail/specialised drinks smooth bar? Has anyone here got any experiene in the field of bar running/owning? And what a prospective business owner should know before going ahead?
I've literally dumped 90% of my after tax income into stocks for the last 4 years after graduating. Do the math yourself. I know its inconceivable for some people because they need to spend 90%+ of their income to impress their friends, but trust me its not that hard.
>having no savings is better than saving
You can’t be serious
Not a californian.
The entire thread is about this
I would suggest you ask that some bar owner in your area.
Also I would suggest not to go balls deep into debt if it your money. On the other side from 20 to 30 y/o is the time to take risk.
You dont get it bro. The bottom line is that it's not worth it, and there is more opportunity in the midwest, south, and low cost places like Raleigh, Charlotte, Nashville, etc.
Do you hear yourself? You are talking about living out in a trailer, saving every penny. Tax rate of 25% just shows you no nothing of the situation, the tax rate is more like 35-40. You are not saving as much as you think.
Meanwhile you can live in a Southern state like North Carolina, Florida, Texas, TN, and effectively make good money while not worrying about getting raped at the pocketbook, you can actually live your life instead of living and scraping by and worrying about every penny you make.
You speak as if you know it, you clearly dont. It's not that easy to save and that's why people are fleeing the area, and not everyone can get a job at Google lmao, only a select few
This isn't a "boomer" issue, all the younger people are headed south and midwest, its where the opportunity is
You sound so ignorant
>$330k saved meaning youd have to make greater than $100k right out of college, GTFO liar
saving 330k in 4 years is only like $190/day on 7% returns, if you can't do that you are a fuckin failure
if you were even half a brainlet and went into crypto for, we'll modestly call it 50% yoy gainz, it is only like $110/day or a minimum wage worth of value in cali
Thanks man. And i only realised I posted as a reply to an existing thread, not making a new one REEEE
i did the same thing, it was great
just did it for a summer... saved tons of money. now im back to renting a place from a chinese landlord b/c gf
t. tech worker in california
Midwest and South is where the growth is you dumbfuck. Look up the growth by State, its all Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee.
I didnt say that you dumbfuck. It's better for you to live in a place like Texas where you make good money, can save and live your life without worrying about living in a fucking trailer just to save money. Derp.
Holy shit, do the math. 330/4 is 82, meaning that this liar over here would have to make over $100k right out of college considering taxes. Actually he'd have to make over $120k. Not that hard to do the math.
>hurr bumfuck indiana
>hurr you can't be a degenerate
Fuck off.
Which isn't much in California for a UMichigan engineering graduate. Did I mention I've been investing that money in index funds? Holy shit you guys are dense.
I used google for example because the conversation I’d been having earlier was specifically talking about google jobs.
>move to the south
If you’d stop being such cringeworthy rednecks I’d consider it but that seems unlikely to happen. Just being honest, that shit gets annoying after the first week.
People ITT would like to believe this is impossible
You said no one cares about their savings because expenses are low, but whatever.
>Move to Bumfuck, Nowhere!
I can't relate to these boomers. Go back to the QAnon thread you crawled from.
The growth is in China & India, why don't you move there dumbfuck.
Here's the (you) you were seeking.
Hey that's me although I only make six figures 'cause overtime.
I'm stuck here for family reasons but in maybe 5 years or so I'm taking my cash to a red state and enjoying the rest of my life.
>Being this desperate to defend your shit libcuck state.
Face it, Commiefornia is toast. And your blatant lying isnt helping the situation.
>Hurr durr I'm an engineering graduate making $120k right out of college
hahahahahaha
I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US, have a decent job, live like a jew and can't save >70K per year? Seems like you're the delusional one.
My first job was in Michigan earning 85K. 6 months in, I moved to California and was offered 110K, I earn 160K now after moving around jobs for 4 years. The average starting salary for UMichigan engineering graduates is ~80K. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
I’ve already explained I don’t live in california and never have.
here is my RV. made 6 figs wfh. saw 36 states in total, sold it for a profit
ama
90k damn i get 19k yearly(total)
am i cucked?
Because you're larping, dont you have important engineering work to do? Oh wait you're on break right? lol
Nice, I prefer my Mercedes Sprinter, as I can park almost anywhere. With my setup I can collapse my bed into a couch and have quite a bit of room, and a collapsible counter top to cook and all. All I need really, I shower and shit at the gym, which is like half a block from the air-conditioned parking garage I rent space in.
Will probably going up to Washington to camp this Thanksgiving, although I really want to visit the East Coast on a longer holiday.
programmer?
Your estimation of taxes is way off, in California at that income level your taxes will be closer to 40%. A very modest home in a borderline part of the bay area will be 1mil. My dad just bought an aging 1500sqf home for 2.3mil that will be completely rebuilt so actually closer to 3mil. I always lament to him why do people buy modest multi-million dollar homes and have to work their entire lives to pay for it, but I never get a satisfactory explanation.
Work doesn't start for another 15 minutes.
The funniest part is, there is no reason that 90% of them couldn't live anywhere else in the world and telecommute.
Hey man you gotta do what you gotta do in order to save money. But it's kinda ridic and sad. The better life is south in low tax states like Texas. I know alot of bizlets like the live like a jew meme, but reality is different and life is better down south desu
From someone who lived in NJ. Florida is way better
Even so at $150k annual and 40% taxes it’s $7,500 take home a month. Definitely doable
Side note: why not live in an RV in a low cost area for the savings? Rather than stretch a budget to it’s limits one could put away most of their pay. Is this the red pill living situation? It doubles and transport and you even save on insurance
thats sick. i wanted a sprinter but they were more expensive, and my gf wanted a dedicated place to shit and shower. i ended up getting a class C on a ford chassis. no ragrets about it, except it was conspicuous and it couldn't offroad well (i did a good amount of offroading on it tho lmao).
i spent about a month in WA, saw a lot of the state.... there are some serious homeless people that legit live in the woods there. it was kind of a mindfuck for me, it was more redneck than anywhere i stayed in the south. feral illiterate retards who lived in tents or thrashed rvs and shit in the woods. random gunshots throughout the day. camping like that is a lot easier on the west coast tho because there is more public land. utah is probably the easiest place to camp.
well this gives me motivation to leave california. thinking of Seattle or Denver.
Also forgot to mention how excruciatingly bad the traffic is in the bay area because of how many fags are trying to do exactly what is recommended in this thread. Good luck even commuting 20+ miles. I used to get stuck on 101 for an hour just to go a couple blocks. Rush hour is probably 3:45 to 630pm
>Seattle
Homeless central and the people are dicks
>Denver
Murder central and the people are pricks
There are hidden costs to living in an rv. It's a major downgrade from living in an apartment. Huge quality of life issues. Alot of naievity from. Bizlets...Commiefornia tax rate is effectively around 40 percent. It's just not a great place to live, the blue states are forcing everyone out. Same here for NJ, you'd have to make a 150k salary to even live decently but you'd still struggle to save.
Out here in Florida I only pay a fraction for rent, around 800 for a great apartment 20 min from the beach. While you Jew away in your rv in Commiefornia. No comparison. Yeah I make less but the qol makes up for it.
You're better off trying to get a tech job in NYC. It's a little more difficult, but you're better off because you can live a 10-20 minute train ride outside the city and have your own place for like $1300 a month. The room i rent is only 700 a month and i don't have to share a bathroom.
Stay the fuck out of Florida, there's already too much competition here
checked.
How can I live in an RV and be an attorney... I guess have a virtual office and do all my work from RV. Would have to live nearby the courts and in the city...
>how am i going to live without fellow 20 years old shitheads to eat avocado toast with?!
how do you people even end up on Jow Forums
>inb4 "muh secret club"
it's not about that, it's just puzzling to see people who are basically reddit personified insist on coming to the one place where they'll get offended
You are not saving as much as you think.

you are the faggots that are going to come down here and fuck our state up. Fix your own fucking state faggot. Dont fuck up a good thing
kek. living in LA and San Diego, they are also homeless and murder centrals, with pricks and dicks. seems typical now.
as somebody that's already "made it", living out of an rv doesn't even sound bad, would stop me spending too much time indoors and force me to get to the gym daily to shower
It's only feasible if you are ok with eventually moving away. If you want to live anywhere remotely close to work without supercommuting then your mortgage will be around $6k for a modest place. To put it in perspective some people here pay more in property taxes than most people pay for their mortgage.
wageslaving pre-2010:
>have good house
>can raise a family
>living above the average quality of life
wageslaving post 2010:
>no property other than a fucking van
>no family
>living literally below the NEET quality of life
and fuckin beaners living 10 heads to a studio apartment
yea people buying canal boats, something has got to give soon.
do people in the uk actually live on boats like people in america have rvs? that actually sounds really cool
>Even a retard can earn 6 figures in san francisco
Tell me, where are these jobs snowflake? I dont see anyone handing them out on the streetcorner. Maybe step out of your elitist bubble once in a while.
>make 90k
>bottled soda that’s $1.25 in most other states is $7 in Cali
>everything in Cali is priced this way
It’s less about how much money you MAKE, and more about your money’s buying power
Yes no bullshit google canal boats in London, people are starting to live in vans as well to be honest
By retard he means average college grad with a practical degree. Oh and $105k is now officially considered low income in sf lol
have you read the bitcoin standard user ? jebus, just started a few chapters and it's blowing my pants away. He makes the argument that when governments have the unfettered authority to print money, the buying power goes down and societies enter into a slow gradual decline. Makes me feel of today's standard. But then i'm reminded of Taleb, anti-fragile, that even a higher education does not equal a higher production, so getting more education or schooling may not be a proper antidote...
checked.
This, the guy that makes them coffee in starbucks is the poor fuck living in the van
Like me and other people said he's a larper. $330k saved in 4 years is a joke, means $80k/year saved, $100k job right out of college AND have his college loans paid off by mommy and daddy to start saving asap.
funny you asked. my wife is an attorney and worked from home and was during our RV time. she did academic research now for a professor at the time. it seems hard to actually practice law remotely, since that job didn't technically require her to be a licensed attorney. all of her other situations required her to go into the office and make court appearances
Not nearly as bad as Michigan, the Bayou & Anchorage these days.
Try Austin or Lexington
Not sure if Oregon is still a thing
>maybe work 2 days a week or so and just neet with parents again
This is exactly what I'm doing and I've never been comfier. My mom doesn't even care if I pay rent because the house is already paid off and expenses are cheap.
>living in a trailer in alabama to save money
A trailer in a trailer park in Alabama can have a septic tank and water hookup. A trailer parked on the street in California cannot, is even smaller, and leaves its residents at risk of being picked up by the cops for vagrancy.
>San Francisco
saged for being a californian, or mentioning california in any post. Absolutely disgusting.
