Apparently the Universtiy of Virginia and Monticello are Unesco sites.

It makes sense considering their history, but it's still surprising.
I've been to Monticello, it's pretty cool. The house is very unique.
And UVA is a really nice campus.

Another one near me:

What went wrong with Mexico? Can the cartel crisis ever be solved?

post world heritage site from your country

the whole country

What is the middle part? Is the tomb?

It's hard to explain but I doubt it will be fixed soon, not as long as USA is next to us, they need to legalize drugs, and we need to approve the death penalty, among other things...

I like the barroque-colonial architecture, sadly there is too few examples in northern spain. I suppose that it was used mostly in lands prone to earthquakes.

Is everything built with volcanic rock?

it's tomb and it's same dynasty now...

Great stuff mexicanon

The Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and many other regional parks are located in the Dolomites. In August 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nice, it reminds me the canary islands, with that dark rock used in every monument

I love how Mexico is this absolute shithole but has amazing architecture and heritage and the US is an absolute shithole too but has nothing.
Apart from some gay LARP buildings.

Indeed, pretty nice colours although most people would get triggered if you told them that

"Walled town of Cuenca"

Literally never seen those in any doc, travel show, travel guide compared tot he few overrepresented cliché ones, whose fault is that? Foreign travel agencies or also Mexican tourism ministery?
They look like good places and worthy of being visited or experienced (not aware of those regions rankings in term of security).

Abroad is like, Cancun, Cancun, Yucatan, closest sites to these two, the beach, the underwater caves and Mexico City.

US saving grace are the nation parks and landscapes in general for me,that's all, maybe some liberty style skyscrapers and their interiors.

The Mexican government didn't bother to preserve most historical sites like Europe does. There are entire pre-colonial era city ruins and pyramids buried under parking lots and suburbs. Some of these sites were completely destroyed too.

Kremlin is indeed like most of St Petersburg area that was also built by Italians mostly and everything traditional Russian was removed by commies or burnt in fires because the Russian architecture focused on wooden houses with a mix of christian and pagan carvings, some can still be found in the countryside just like in Belarus, you also have the wooden churches and natural landscapes that have that status.

I think Abruzzo or Umbria was recently added for their scenary and flower blooming valley, not sure.
Needs more borghi in general anyway, surprised there are no Bologna arcades.

>whose fault is that?
Well, I'd say both, to give you an idea, most the tourists that come to México are American tourists that aren't really interested in history, they most mostly come thanks to our beaches for being cheap while also being great
eh, this isn't really true, for example plenty of the monuments in México City were destroyed by Spaniards to make churches with the material, here's a major example, the major church in the city created with the rocks of the monument and those orders were by Spaniards
Whenever there's a debate on why some native Méxicans hate Spain, they come with the argument: ''You guys destroyed our culture, and monuments, blah blah blah''
Personally I don't hate them, history is history, we cannot change anything about that, hell I'd say that I genuinely think that Spain is a good country

I for one think Mormon temples are pretty neat

Pretty and all but i'm still triggered that they melted the Colossus of the Colosseo to build the cannons for that shit

''El Tajín''

You're right. We have a say: "Quod non fecerunt barbari, fecerunt Barberini" es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quod_non_fecerunt_barbari,_fecerunt_Barberini
This is also used as a general criticism of the recent Roman mayors who failed to solve the many issues of the Capital.

That is breathtaking. Mexico is on my bucket list, even thought I'm a little afraid of gang violence. Pre-Columbian civs were more advanced than we usually give them credit for. It's a shame that most of them died from epidemics.

What

Attached: Schloper.jpg (588x391, 88K)

I'd say that Acapulco, Tijuana are the only no-go zones in México, if you've little caution you'll be fine
As silly as it may sound the violence tends to be between cartel members and the majority of time they don't include civilians

peak of roman art, caesartards dont even try

The closest world heritage site to me is a place called Saltaire. It's a model village built during Victorian times for mill workers. The name is a portmanteau of the founder's name (Titus Salt) and the river that flows through it (River Aire).
