>wie alle die Personen in seiner Umgebung
if you were to say it like that itdd have to be "all die", but i dont think i wouldve said that here, it moreso serves for emphasis. try to think of it more like "all of these people" instead of "all the poeple" in your example. its quite difficult to explain. so just get rid of the article.
* auszuwandern gedachtet
there are some ways to say this, unfortunately, this one doesnt quite cut it.
* Alex Rodás hat daran gedacht, auszuwandern
* Alex Rodás hat ans Auswandern gedacht
* Alex Rodás hat darüber nachgedacht, auszuwandern

>seinen Bekannten
dative object, thus, seiner Bekannten
this sentence needs more structure, im just going to rewrite it
* Als einige seiner Bekannten ihm vorgeschlagen hatten, für ein besseres Leben in die USA zu ziehen, hat er sich (/hat ihn das) überzeugt.
Als because im assuming that these people did already do that, wenn would imply a condition
vorgeschlagen hatten would be plusquamperfekt, whereas vorgeschlagen haben would just be perfekt, im not very sure which would be the correct tense, granted i dont know the original sentence, but even then i think you could get away with using them interchangibly, doesnt matter that much.

>Glassflasche Verteiler
not sure what youre trying to say
* Glasflaschenverkäufer, if he sells glass bottles
* Glasflaschenhersteller, if he produces them, although Glasbläser would be better, since thats what the job is called
* Kaufmann für Glasflaschen, just because why not
>ist gearbeitet
hat gearbeitet, past perfect
>in der gefährliche Altavista Stadtviertel
* im gefährlichen Altavista-Stadtviertel
* in dem gefährlichen Stadviertel Altavista
Viertel is neuter
>salvadorianischere
thats a comparative, cut the -re ending
>sind versanken

* versunken sind
or
* versanken
either way, put commas around that interjection
>gewohnen haben.

It's just a language challenge, calm down bro. I copied the idea of a crosspost challenge from a Brit who did one of /n/ on an earlier thread. Of course if I made one of these types of challenges again, it would be a different board next time. Crossposting challenges from other boards help us to:

1) learn vocabulary specific to Jow Forums and the internet, which we could possibly use here on foreign language generals, and
2) learn specific vocabulary.

posted in the wrong thread kek, we on that dummy shit on god

mate you literally just have to translate, you do not have to form an opinion on the contents of the sentences. doing this is actually good, its themed vocabulary and the sentences are more natural things to say than "The car is blue tee hee taa haa", might be cool to know how oned say something very colloquial and on-topic in their tl.

>Anyway, I never claimed to be proficient in speaking grammatically correct German. I can understand written or spoken German, but I won't say I can go much beyond that.
forgot to mention: this is perfectly reasonable, not only are speaking and understanding (which is further dividable into reading and listening) two completely different skills, but translation is one too. they dont even develop at the same pace or by doing the same thing. no worries.

>learn vocabulary specific to Jow Forums and the internet
People didn't even translate kek to target equivalents

There are some potentially translatable Jow Forums words there, such as OP (original poster), qt, troll, sage, report, etc. Even if they are the same in your target language, it is possible you would have to transliterate, decline, or conjugate them.

Would you expect lel, vev, top zozzle, ses, and heh to have exact equivalents in other languages too?

I'm not looking for exacts, but wouldn't it be nice to demonstrate slang and chatspeak from other tongues?

>post blatant inflammatory bait with the intention of shitting up the thread
>hurr it's just a challenge XD

dont know if you realise this or not but youre the only one shitting up the thread presently

How is it inflammatory bait? I used random posts from different kinds of LGBTs and even normal straights.

>How long have you been learning Polish? I have just started and I am finding it quite daunting
3-4 months ago. My method is to cram on grammar at first and then learn vocabulary from language challenges, translating sentences, etc.

Let me correct myself, I overestimated. After reviewing my previous posts on desuarchive.org, I started learning Polish some time around April 30th.

That's like 2 months tops, how do you feel about your progress?

I feel like some sentences I post in the language challenges are spot on by random chance, and this makes Poles overestimate my Polish language skills after the fact. Makes me nervous. I'm not satisfied with how far I've come, and I don't think I should really be doing the hard challenges yet, but I started doing them when Britanon posted a relatively easy challenge and haven't stopped since.

Hello /Lang/ can you pls help with this?

No, I had enough

The sentences became so long because most words here are actually definitions of the terms in the original English, for example, "umžâqtëlarâňqielčüaňqáu" means "a person who is associated with avoiding at all costs people who are associated with not being satisfied with their physical sex, who is being addressed" and "pan-n aidlazvö'aqqikóežai" means "happening from time to time during the imaginary representation of an event of having punctual events that form the gestalt of sexual activity with the use of a fist" and so on, pretty sure it would be much simpler without all this fag vocabulary

Who else is learning Portuguese

Do Americans unironically misspell "your" wih "you're"?

Anyone who learned spoken language before written can make this mistake.

Has anyone learned Farsi as a foreign language? I read some Persian and Iranian history after I got memed into >start with the Greeks by /lit/ and I want to learn the language now.

Where do I start? Any resources other than that old US govt document from wiki? Any advice is also welcome, I am completely clueless on where to begin.

Decent video.

This was sort of true, at least during the 14th century.

> visiting germoney
> constantly remind myself to not mock the accent like an asshole

It's not their fault since Spanish is their first language.

fucking BASED

YES SALAM. As the hungarianon said, there's files in the mega in OP (Indo-european->Iranian subfolders). Most is irrelevant and refers to dialects/sister langs/older langs, but the book I use from that (and actually have physically is)
>Persian, Teach Yourself Modern (Farzad)
In addition to that, not in the pdf but I also have Lonely Planet's Persian phrasebook. Pimsleur also has a decent Persian thing that I did for a while. Finally there's this online teaching tool I used for a while easypersian.com

I recommend you try several things to find which work best for you, and to try to use at least two things because one thing will rarely ever be sufficient in my experience. As dictionary, I have three online lookups. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page
translate.google.com
farsidic.com/en/Lang/EnFa

For pronunciation, wiktionary and forvo.com

As for where to start, the obvious answer is the script. It's slightly annoying to get used to, especially since short vowels aren't written (For example, if you know IPA, /bæɾɒːˈdæɾ/ is written bradr). Just actually physically write a lot. Write simple words. Transliterate english/polish shit. Get acquainted with the few spelling rules. After this, you'll have gotten a very basic vocab from writing simple stuff. Expand this vocab (using whatever method you're using and probably something like anki/memrise). Learn basic grammar. Repeat. Repeat. Consistency is key.

The major hurdles though will be the script initially, and then a few sounds because they just don't exist in English (nor polish I think). You might have luck finding a decent polish textbook even. Since it's an indo-european language, the grammar is mostly recognisable, and words don't seem to alien in structuring (minus the arabic loanwords).

Good luck fampai, hope you can make it to Iran one day too. It's a great place, great people, and a comfy lang desu.

Should I learn the Kanji before anything else?

Ulster-Scots = SWS

no, learn some really basic stuff together with vocabulary and then learn just words while looking up unknown kanji, well, also learn grammar, syntax, phonology, pitch accent and whatever while you're learning words

Don't do what he said.

Learn all the Kanji first, don't associate them with sounds, and then the Kana (or the other way round) and finally repeat to yourself sentences until you understand them in Japanese not your language. While doing all this make sure you are regularly watching Japanese programs at an appropriate level.

They're too many for that to be efficient.
Learn kana, and then learn kanji while practicing grammar and reading/listening.

Learn hiragana and katakana first, they should take maybe a week each. Then do Core6K for words (most of which will either be kanji or include kanji) and Tae Kim for grammar at the same time. You can learn the kanji radicals if you're finding it hard to memorise the kanji, I've learned about half of the radicals but at this point I think I should just get back to learning actual words.

Attached: 1561596896068.jpg (500x500, 60K)

Ignore them.

Do what said.

Why are you like this? You cunt.

I'm only trying to help him learn Japanese the best way possible.

>By what means did you attain this knowledge?
Mida läbi sulle saanud see teadmine?

I'd say you should learn grammar, kanji, and the most common words all together, so you can jump as quickly as possible into consuming Japanese media.
What I believe is the best study tool for kanji is the Kodansha Kanji Learners' Course (which you can grab a scanned copy of from the 勉強資料 section on itazuraneko.neocities.org), covering both +2300 kanji and about 4 example words for each. You probably don't need to remember all of the information that appears in every single entry, but it wouldn't be too bad to learn at least one example word per kanji.
Here's an example of an anki deck that you can use to review along with it: ankiweb.net/shared/info/1564742924

Eh, I think he's just gatekeeping. Anyway, if someone has to ask such a question then they shouldn't be learning Japanese in the first place, lest they end up like the average guy who just gives up on it after a couple of months of inefficient study, and then keeps bothering me with the good old "Learning Japanese is literally impossible!" talk.
