The Italian migration in Venezuela is more recent, from around the 50s. The Colombian one is previous, from the xix century. It's funny because a lot of Italian wewuzzers here have their Italian last name in the 5th or 6th last name. However, the ones I've met have theirs in their 1st last name still up to this day, against all odds. Due to the obvious predominance of Spanish last names one would expect last names from non-Spanish backgrounds to become rarer and rarer generation after generation, but they've somehow managed to keep it alive to this day
