Do monarchs actually believe that their power to reign literally comes from God himself? If so you'd think they'd have significantly less security; should an assassin have his gun pointed at the king then God save the king and have a lightning bolt from strike down the assassin. If God decides at that moment that the kings rule is over then God will it.
Do IRL kings and queens actually believe their own bullshit?

of course they don't believe in those shit, they're tailored to cater for the peasants who believe in those shit
monarchs are all the same hypocritical bs everywhere
Fuck r*YALS & fuck the pope
I'm a monarchist. Since when does truth or morality come from a majority vote? Since never. Anyone who believes in democracy in 2019 is naive and also blind and also lives under a rock.
>God
By this logic lets have assassin point gun at the democratically elected president then if God stops him blah blah blah democracy must be real.
OR we can use common sense to determine that democracy is a sham, no weird assassination test or attempts at tempting God involved.
For Catholics the papacy is a divine authority, which is why coronations by the pope or other local Catholic authority was seen as the legitimization of power given by God. But I do not think most would consider their rule to be literally divine, though some probably did.
It's astonishing how atheists who so proudly claim to have read the Bible and other religious books several times can't grasp the concept of free will.
>By this logic lets have assassin point gun at the democratically elected president then if God stops him blah blah blah democracy must be real.
Democracies don't claim their power comes from god unlike monarchies so it isn't comparable dumb fuck
Jesus power came from God and so did all the Apostles power came from God and they still got murdered. Murder has nothing to do with "power comes from God".
From Christianity technically everyone's power comes from God since he has domain over everything. But our power can still be misused (and most often is by democratically elected politicians since it attracts the biggest sociopaths).
Truth and morality still doesn't come from majority vote.
>>>/christian/
>God creates the entire universe and everything in it which includes everything that has happened and ever will happen
>People are created with brains that influence them to do certain things
>Somehow despite all this humans have free will
>creates murderous psychopath that can't resist his urges
>you failed my test lol :^)
>creates a normal human being with no immoral urges
>come here bro :^)
Of course not. It was a excuse to legitimize their own power at the expense of the people.
You can see it in Charlemagne and the saxons. He claimed to have a divine right to rule, and thus had the right to suppress the saxon freedom.
You're only tested by what you CAN do.
You guys are just proving what I said. Too easy
Anyway to answer OPs question, no. Monarchy is about politics and remaining in power, they just used religion for their own gains.
Or... conclude that god either doesn't exit or is absolutely indifferent to mortal affairs. Inbred aristocracy isn't a healthy basis for leadership.
God does exist.
>Inbred aristocracy
Better than sociopathic power-seekers good at pandering to a crowd.
plebeian tier arguments
>God does exist.
Which one?
>inb4 the true one
William the Orange turned our country from a monarchy (with a Spanish King) into a republic.
But his descendants were given the function of placeholder (of the non-existant King). As they were a uniting factor between the many states of the Netherlands.
We had a republican leader once, but they were killed by an angry crowd.
Then a couple hundred years later Napoleon managed to conquer us and turned our republic into a monarchy.
As we saw the benefits of having all power united in one person, we decided to keep the system Napoleon implemented. And turned a member of the house of orange into our King.
It's a bit like if George Washington his descendants would be crowned King.
The placeholder of the King was the de facto leader of the Dutch republic.
And when we had a truly republic leader once the crowd considered them traitors to the house of orange. So they got ehhh mutilated, eaten and killed.
They don't.
If they had any spine they would take despotic control without being afraid of some rats saying it is wrong.
William of Orange was murdered though. The killer got a pretty fitting punishment.
>At his trial, Gérard was sentenced to be brutally – even by the standards of that time – killed. The magistrates decreed that the right hand of Gérard should be burned off with a red-hot iron, that his flesh should be torn from his bones with pincers in six different places, that he should be quartered and disemboweled alive, his heart torn from his bosom and flung in his face, and that, finally, his head should be taken off
>Gérard's torture was also very brutal. On the first night of his imprisonment Gérard was hung on a pole and lashed with a whip. After that his wounds were smeared with honey and a goat was brought to lick the honey off his skin with his rough tongue. The goat however refused to touch the body of the sentenced. After this and other tortures he was left to pass the night with his hands and feet bound together, like a ball, so sleep would be difficult. During the following three days, he was repeatedly mocked and hung on a pole with his hands tied behind his back. Then a weight of 300 metric pounds (150 kg) was attached to each of his big toes for half an hour. After this half hour Gérard was fitted with shoes made of well-oiled, uncured dog skin; the shoes were two fingers shorter than his feet. In this state he was put before a fire. When the shoes warmed up, they contracted, crushing the feet inside them to stumps. When the shoes were removed, his half-broiled skin was torn off. After his feet were damaged, his armpits were branded. After that he was dressed in a shirt soaked in alcohol. Then burning bacon fat was poured over him and sharp nails were stuck between the flesh and the nails of his hands and feet. Gérard is said to have grown frantic during his torture. On 14 July 1584, Gérard was executed.
>Which one?
There's only one in three persons
>ner ner ner muh polytheism
Yeah ok
Pic related, our republican president and his brother.
They were stabbed with a pike, beaten and shot and cut up. Hanged up and toes, fingers, thumbs, ears, noses, lips, tongues and hands cut off. While being beaten. Their organs removed and eaten by the crowd. Castrated. Their cat got killed as well. Their hearts were put on display in a bottle for years.
The church declared it was the vengeance and an act of god and were convinced the murders wouldn't be punished.
Even today the police arrests everyone with a republican sign on the streets. Despite it not being illegal. For the safety of the public of course.
Base and redpill. If only USA could say the same...the absolute state of a monarchy-less nation.
Then how do we have free will if God creates everything to act in a certain way?
Someone is a republican. Quick, call the police!
Oh boy, we have another one.
holy shit what the FUCK is wrong with the Dutch people and why the FUCK do they pronounce their G's gutterly
>Thank goodness we live in an enlightened liberal Western democracy and not some awful tyrannical dictatorship like North Korea or Russia that arrests people for thinking differently!
umm sweetie, calling the King a tyrant carries a 5 year prison sentence.
Besides, it's not the King doing this. He doesn't give a fuck.
Why should I trust you instead of Muslims, Hindu or what ever Mormons believe this week?
It's not like our National Holiday is the Kings birthday. And our national anthem sings about his glorious ancestors or something lol,
Oh wait.
Better than having delusions trying to bring back the monarchy. There's a reason why it's dead.
Only one has the superabundance of miracles and witnesses. There's no Marian apparition or Eucharistic miracles or anything else in other religion. Honestly its almost embarrassing how many miracles and witnesses the Catholic Church has compared to everyone else in the world combined, but what can you do?
You do know that you live in a monarchy, right? You're the literal subject of the literal Queen.
Also monarchies have been proven to be more stable and prosperous than non-monarchies on average.
Yeah, but having delusions of turning this place into a republic is pretty far fetched as well.
Our King literally said he would step down if people would decide it in a democratic manner.
Now, what is that democratic manner you ask?
>the parliament has to propose a law to change the constitution to remove the King
>the government and the King both have to support the law
>the senate has to approve of the law as well
>all politicians, in the parliament and senate, get fired
>reelections happen
>you have to convince the people to vote against a King while 8% of the country wants a republic and 4% doesn't have faith in the King
>after the elections the new government and the King have to approve of the law
>then you need to get a 67% majority in favor of the law in the parliament
>and a 67% majority in the newly elected senate
And then he will democratically step down.
Literally the elections from hell for any politician lol.
>Every one of the miscreants, emboldened by his [Johan’s] fall, wanted to fire his gun at him, or strike him with blows of the sledge-hammer, or stab him with a knife or swords, every one wanted to draw a drop of blood from the fallen hero, and tear off a shred from his garments.
>After having mangled, and torn, and completely stripped the two brothers, the mob dragged their naked and bloody bodies to an extemporised gibbet, where amateur executioners hung them up by the feet.
>Then came the most dastardly scoundrels of all, who not having dared to strike the living flesh, cut the dead in pieces, and then went about the town selling small slices of the bodies of John and Cornelius at ten sous a piece.
It's just funny to me how these modern European tolerant utopia paradise etc. nations were so fucking savage in the past, but this wasn't even the dark ages which makes the whole thing even worse.
Nowadays people get out all their rage on twitter so its not too bad.
Even today if OP would try to start a republic here it wouldn't end well for him.
This place is literally North Korea tier indoctrinated. Hence all the orange everything.
This is the Kings chariot.
It's not bad here, the royals are just basically glorified celebrities who get round the clock coverage whenever they visit or something happens. Even one of our major parties policies supports Australia transistioning into a republic
Meh, all of them have those. They just don't have a bureaucratic machine to file all the ramblings of old gradmas with low blood sugar seeing things.
Your god is kinda shit if he has to mark his presence with statues crying blood or absolute not suspicious decade long fasts. What about a good ol' smithing? Or modern day locust swarms? Cancer remission with cool looking stigmata? Parting seas?
No wonder Protestants are beating the shit out you with megachurches and televangelism.
In the Netherlands journalists can get get in trouble if they publish a photo of the monarchy outside of his official appearances. So you can't harass invade their privacy like with celebs.
*harass them or invade their privacy
I guess that's fair, I can't say I've ever been a fan of tabloid media in any shape or form. Although from what you told us you guys seem to be pretty serious into that monarchy shit still which sucks. There will probably come a day when you'll actually become a republic, same with us although it'll be a while yet. We have the same debate here every few years or so it's just the republic side isn't a very popular one at the moment with the muh china stuff going on right now.
When it comes to the princesses journalists get like three photo moments a year.
They get a summer photo shoot, a vacation photo shoot and they can take a picture on certain holidays when they are out with the King, like on Kingsday.
>Meh, all of them have those.
They do not. Common misconception. There are no mass apparitions of Muhammad or Krishna or Joseph Smith.
These kind of miracles only happen in Christianity-- Catholic and occasionally Orthodox. Seen by hundreds and hundreds constantly, the Church can't even keep up.
> What about a good ol' smithing?
Smiting? Also happens, happening right now with Global Weirding. There are locust swarms too. People die every day, ffs. Smiting isn't usually considered a miracle in the same way since its a universal thing but if mass death is what you are looking for, you got that too.
>Cancer remission with cool looking stigmata?
Still happens. I don't know if they've happened in conjunction with each other, though it wouldn't surprise me. Got a whole category for stigmata and look all Catholic:

Hmm Mormons worship Jesus and yet not a single Mormon on the list how odd (not odd at all).
No other religion can even compete.
It's pretty surprising that the UK doesn't have similar rules, consider that whole Princess Diana thing.
You don't have Rupert Murdoch running your press, we do.
Journalists who break the media code lose their accreditation as journalists. And juridical steps can be taken. The (American) Associated Press once got into trouble for taking 4 vacation pictures.
>if god isnt constantly interfering with the world and protecting all good people that means he's fake
>ignores the fact that the bible says this world belongs to satan and christians will be an oppressed minority
This
>he doesn’t understand metaphysical libertarianism or molonism
i think the netherlands is a cool place ok :)
