Why is gentrification considered bad? It seems to be beneficial to all parties involved. The only arguments I've heard against it seem to basically amount to letting impoverished minorities rot in their own filth, bringing down whole cities with them because anything is better than letting whitey make things a little more pleasant for everyone.
What is so awful about moving to a nicer, cheaper housing project or apartment complex in the suburbs that isn't a fucking health and safety risk?
Am I wrong in thinking this? Is there a more intelligent, nuanced argument that I haven't been exposed to?
the upper classes price the lower class out of properties. they also call the cops on them constantly, so they can't deal drugs out in the open, or have loud parties, or get into other mischief as much as they'd like to.
Brandon Thompson
because it sterilizes places that used to be trendy and hip over time. once old money and rich yuppies move in, they kill any kind of culture that it once had. williamsburg brooklyn in 10 years will probably be mainstream and very commercial by that point and the hipsters and artistic oddballs that made it a fun place will have found a new place to settle into.
Charles Sullivan
The people who tell you gentrification is bad are shitstains who should remain with the rotting filth of impoverishment. Ignore them, OP, because you're better than them and they want you to pity them.
Michael Cruz
OK think of yourself moving into a nice new neighborhood that has been gentrified. Got all the cute coffee shops and shit that you love and all the poor people get squeezed out which is an added bonus. You live there as a renter for 10+ years, put down roots, know your local barista, nice local community, etc, etc. Then a bunch of rich faggots from Dubai or something all move into your area with lambos and gucci bags, suddenly rent skyrockets, you can't afford to live there any more, your nice local places get replaced by Armani Caffe, all sense of community dies as a bunch of rich fucks who look at you as slime shoulder you out and destroy everything that you valued about living there, while at the same time making it completely untenable for you to stay due to costs. It's not "gentrification r bad" it's just there's 2 sides to everything, and that's the other side.
Jackson Cooper
Gentrification is great. Liberals are just mad that niggers can't compete in the free market and get triggered when reality reminds them of this.
this question actually reminds me of an example Andreas used in this presentation. He uses gentrification as an example as to how Bitcoin is being replaced by Wall street, elite financial institutions (in your question, people who are more interesting getting pushed out by the suits and yuppie normies with starbucks coffee in their hands every morning)
more traffic, longer lines in stores, LOUD groups of 15-20 drunk guys roaming the streets EVERY weekend. Don't forget, for every condo complex they build, they are required to build a certain amount of government subsidized units. You know what that means, right? It's not just more white people. It's more of everything, which attracts more homeless, too. FUCK this shit. My favorite parks are now massive condo complexes. The only reason this shit is allowed is because the companies that build all the housing pay off the politicians. I can't drive a mile in under 20 minutes anymore
John Wilson
Also williamsburg was already a hipster meme 10 years ago
the oddball types lived there pre 2005. It's been full of posers for well over a decade
Justin Fisher
begins at 3:00
Mason Roberts
great point. I forgot to mention that it attracts more street shitters
Kevin Torres
>why don't people like it when we kick them out of their homes? >why don't people like it when we scatter them and destroy any type of community and culture they might have built?
Not saying this is a bad thing necessarily. Invasion and replacement is the way of nature but it's pretty obvious why people don't enjoy the process.
William Ward
yeah thats true. I couldn't think of a better example, I just woke up a little while ago and this was the first thread I saw ha
Brayden Phillips
It mostly fucks with poor whites
Alexander Wood
You're not wrong OP.
If the niggers and spics actually gave a shit about their community there wouldn't be any gentrification in the first place. They sat on their ass, asking for "gimme dats" as their homes became dilapidated, crime spread, and their neighborhood went to hell in a handbasket. No one bats an eye when old white neighborhoods from the 50s gets replaced with new McMansions. So why should you care of some nigger who's a third generation welfare recipient gets bought out of a changing neighborhood? The people who cry the loudest are those who realize their free ride is over and they actually have to work for the first time in their life or some shitlib who brainwashed into thinking these people are victims and not just lazy leaches on society.
Levi Johnson
Niggers, spics, poor, crackers...fuck them all. Why should they benefit and get to live in the city when it should be a right and not a priviledge. Push all poor fags to the outskirts. The only bad thing from gentrification are the pathetic nigs and crackers panhandling at every intersection because they couldn't make it
Isaiah Foster
>Why is gentrification considered bad? because it isn't fair to degenerates who want to leech and they are butthurt about the facts
Thomas Adams
>this
No one is entitled to live a city, neighborhood, etc. The people who get kicked out of said neighborhoods due to gentrification are parasites who provide nothing of value to the city and are on some form of welfare/subsidy. These dregs of society don't deserve shit, let alone housing in a prime location.
Liam Ortiz
McMansions get torn down because they don't house enough consumers. they get replaced with poorly designed skyscrapers that just look like boring boxes and house thousands of indian businessmen
Blake Taylor
Because the riches are empty, sad and boring and so are the places they live in.
Logan Murphy
wrong again. parasites get more gibs because of gentrification. the working middle class is the only class that gets fucked
Carter Ortiz
Williamsburg stopped being a hidden gem a long ass time ago. The new spot was Bushwick up until about a year ago and now that's getting fucking gentrified too.
Brody Rivera
POC don't want to give up conquered land.
William Butler
yeah i hear you. theres a fucking apple store and whole foods in the middle of williamsburg right now. bushwick is definitely full of transplants right now.
Cooper Allen
Gentrification destroys local culture, which is generally why people are moving in anyways. That said, get rekt poor fags
Wyatt Richardson
That is exactly what has been happening to white pipo for the past 60 years. Remember this is what these ethnic people rioted in the streets for. Now they are getting their just desserts.
Noah Bennett
Last summer, you could find apartments for rent in Bushwich for like $900 a month now you can't find one less than $1400 a month. It happened really fast.
Jose Collins
The local culture of poor fags?
Adam Brown
My town was all white before gentrification. Now i see nignogs, interracial couples, pajeets, and burkhas everywhere
John Lewis
White peoples turn to get kicked out. Enjoy your Jew overlords.
Kayden Young
Poor neighborhoods are generally more interesting, when you don't have the crutch of buying nice things you actually develop a personality
Landon Wilson
>Nonwhite moves into White neighborhood thinking he's made it. >More nonwhites move in. >Neighborhood becomes overrun by mudniggers >White people all move out. >Property values plummet. >Neighborhood becomes shithole >Thinks that whites could ever be kicked out of any neighborhood ever Kek
Just dessert? I would feel sick without a main before dessert
Robert Bennett
lolol
Jayden Torres
Yeah, my city used to be 100% white until yuppie Californians moved here and brought their pet spics with them for cheap.
Kevin Scott
>muh culture Poverty and filth is not a culture worth keeping.
John Perez
cheap labor*
Alexander Jenkins
It’s not good because shitty apartment skyscrapers get built which brings all the ‘rich’ software pajeets and muslims. But that’s usually second generation gentrification which is what is happening now in major cities. First generation gentrification that involves building nice houses for white people is generally a good thing
Dominic Hall
I was referring to a suburban neighborhood area, not so much a city in that example. Those old residential neighborhoods that are typically filled with single story, ranch homes are often bought and instantly demoed so they can build a McMansion. No one really makes a big deal when it's done in that situation cause people realize that the land is far more valuable than the house itself and are able to understand the reasoning for that.
Carson Lee
>implying that aren't already on gibs
The people who live in those areas pre gentrification are already on gibs. Especially in places like NYC, where you have certain areas in Brooklyn filled with Puerto Ricans who are 3rd generation welfare recipients. They're still going to be lazy sacks of shit, regardless of gentrification happens or not.
Henry Ramirez
>live outside of a mid-sized city getting gentrified to make room for hundreds of thousands of s o y tech faggots moving in because it's the new cool city >now it's a large city >crime and housing prices go up in the surrounding area Fuck gentrification and fuck the transplants that keep coming here.
Luis Davis
gentrification is great. stay competitive or get priced out.
Nathaniel Myers
Protip: it's the Bronx now
Justin Anderson
Seattle?
Benjamin Ramirez
If gentrification brings costs higher than 35 or 40k annually, it's a problem. Working people shouldn't be out of a home because rich internationals said so. Everything below that is acceptable.
Luke Moore
where in the bronx? seems like most roasties these days are moving there.
